7 Mind-Boggling 1-Star Reviews Of Our All-Time Favorite Books
We’re not saying that people aren’t allowed to have their own opinions on books we love.
We’re just saying those people are idiots.
I know the title says there are seven 1-star reviews, but I had to throw in some bonus reviews for fun.
“If you like stories with pretty heavy BDSM, you may love this book.“
Sweet! Looks like the book for me!

This is not a romance!, November 25, 2012
I apologize for the low rating, but perhaps it will help others with taste like mine. I agree that the writing was very good, however, the BDSM lifestyle kind of freaks me out. I couldn’t finish this book. I stopped when one of the characters referred to coming home bloody and with welts all over her body…and that was a good thing. If you like stories with pretty heavy BDSM, you may love this book. Just goes to show me that I really need to pay better attention to the reviews before I hit “buy”.
Any review titled “Yuck!” is one to be taken very seriously.

Yuck!, September 8, 2014
By Jennifer R.
Didn’t know what I was getting into when I bought this book. It was shocking to say the least. All the violent sex was disgusting! Apparently there are quite a few people who enjoy this as it had many good reviews. Got through about 1/3 and deleted. The act of sex should be an expression of love not sick violence. Unless your into that sort of thing, skip this book. It just continued to get sicker the more I read. Yuck !
So you give a 1-star rating to a book which, in your own words, has “steamy scenes (that) were well written as always.” Genius.
Hero by Samantha Young
Not one of her best., February 19, 2015
I am totally bewildered by the high rating for this book. Yes, i have enjoyed other titles by this author. Yes, the steamy scenes were well written as always. But everything else was filled with two terribly unlikeable main characters, a totally dysfunctional relationship dynamic, and a convoluted, unnecessary backstory to skim through quickly on the way to the the actual plotline. Ms. Young is a talented writer but her readers, like her heroine, deserve way better.
Fucking so fucking much fucking swearing. Fuck.

Strong “sweariness”–didn’t finish, April 28, 2014
See my review of LICK (below) to hear my rant on the over use of swearing in NA novels. Just distracts from otherwise good storytelling. Moderation would definitely be in order. Just feels over the top.
Lick (A Stage Dive Novel Book 1) by Kylie Scott
Another foul-language anthology, April 28, 2014
I guess I must resign myself that this NA is not a genre for me. It’s really unfortunate because I think this author has potential to be a great storyteller, but I just get so distracted by the “sweariness” (if that’s a word) I understand we don’t live in a G rated world but when reading and literally every page has multiple strong swearing, it’s just a detriment and adds nothing to the story. Really sad, I think it limits the readership. I did finish it and started PLAY but it was worse with the language and didn’t finish it. Just be forewarned if strong swearing annoys you, just don’t go with this series. Wish the writers could appreciate that this is not necessary to convince us these characters are bad boy rockers. Great cover though…it’s what drew me in.
If this reviewer thinks Archer’s Voice is porn, I have some real porn to show her.

By JEN CORDELL, June 27, 2014
I am far from a prude – but NO WHERE in any review of this book, by customer or author, does it say “porn” or even “explicit sex “! That I paid money for a book I would never read makes me angry. Perhaps “young married porn” is the new thing – since 50 shades…but SAY IT SOMEWHERE please so that those of us who don’t read porn, don’t buy it!
“It just wasn’t believeable [sic].” Because this book was filed under non-fiction? No. It was not.

I hated this book!, May 19, 2013
The title def fooled me! The book was slow, drawn out and boring. And then nothing but sex in the last chapter…yeah right! It just wasn’t believeable.
Couldn’t finish it, March 12, 2013

Did not even bother to finish this book. Why waste time reading something that is not exciting you and each time you go back its more like a chore than something you can’t put down. The way it was written was too stocato and I didn’t even chuckle let alone laugh out loud. I guess it depends on the level of book you wish to read. If you like gossip mags, mills and boon and fifty shades of grey then you will probably enjoy this.. I didn’t. Sorry
