Why Do We Like This Book?

I’m always up for a new vampire world, and Megan did not disappoint. We get an introduction into the world around the city of Mission, but also how the vampires survive, different species of vampires (yes, there are very creepy ones,) and how much this clan of vampires believes in duty. Tendra was a strong heroine, seeing as her world is turned upside down after meeting Athan, her vampire bodyguard. I loved Athan, he was both strong and sweet with Tendra, but he was so conflicted about having feelings for her. And Tendra, for being told her human life is basically gone, doesn’t break down, act out, or do stupid things to get caught. I was impressed with her strength and attitude, both with Athan and also in facing down the bad guys. Megan really brings the heat once Tendra and Athan give into their feelings.

I opened my mouth, out tongues met, and the kiss went from zero to sixty.  I clutched her face, needing her, inhaling her, as she held on and gave back as good as she got.
“I’d eat you so good, Tendra.  You’d come so hard, you’d black out.  Then when you came to, I’d fuck you for hours, till you were addicted to me and my tongue and my cock.”
I gripped his hair.  “Now that you’ve tasted me, how about you fuck me.”  My voice turned into a moan.  “I ache, so bad.”

About Megan Erickson

Megan Erickson is a USA Today bestselling author of romance that sizzles. Her books have a touch of nerd, a dash of humor, and always have a happily ever after. A former journalist, she switched to fiction when she decided she likes writing her own endings better.

She lives in Pennsylvania with her very own nerdy husband and two kids. Although rather fun-sized, she’s been told she has a full-sized personality. When Megan isn’t writing, she’s either lounging with her two cats named after John Hughes characters or… thinking about writing.

Publisher Synopsis

Enter a world of immortal danger and desire—and discover an incredible fate borne of blood.

Tendra: One minute, I’m a bartender in gritty Mission City; the next, I’m whisked away by a vampire named Athan who tells me that I’m the lifeblood of his clan. It sounds unbelievable, but he’s got evidence I can’t deny. Turns out, Athan belongs to an underground society of vampires who feed only on humans with their consent. Their enemies have no such qualms, and they want me dead. The only thing standing in their way is strong, sexy Athan. And the closer we get, the more tempted I am to let Athan feed. . . .

Athan: How could I have known when I snatched this snarky, beautiful human off the streets that she would change my destiny? As a loyal soldier, I must deliver Tendra to our future king—my brother. Empowered with the blood of ten generations of the Gregorie breed, she is fated to rule as our queen. But there’s something between us that’s so intoxicating, so carnal, I can’t help wanting Tendra for myself . . . even if it’s treason.

About The Author
My first foray into the Romance genre came my freshman year in high school English, where the teacher had us all read books from several different genres. So, my first book boyfriend and PnR introduction, if you will, was Richard Merlin, from The Wizard of Seattle. Prior to that, I’d only read Fantasy or Sci-fi, with a little teen horror thrown in for angst. I was reading The Vampire Diaries decades before it was even a twinkle in the eyes of the producers. Now, I am addicted to PnR, always reading at least one book a week about vamps, wolves, angels, demons, Fae, or overall magic.
