Shameless Recommendation

Marissa Recommends
Legend brought us a new couple on opposing sides of the fight ring but their young love was wonderfully innocent and hot at the same time. Both Maverick and Reese felt this pull towards each other, weren’t afraid to admit to themselves how much it scared them to need the other, and then pushed through that fear to find they couldn’t be without each other. There was no major suspense like in the previous Remy-centered books, this focused on Maverick and Reese’s blossoming love and also his introduction into Remy’s family. It was great seeing Remy, Brooke, Pete and Riley and his cranky Coach but it’s the end of an era, no more Remy after this story. We’ll have to dream up everyone’s true epilogue ourselves and I have a good idea it’s “real.”

Publisher Synopsis

via Amazon

Maverick “the Avenger” Cage wants to rise to the top and become a legend in the ring. Though he keeps his identity well guarded, he's known on the fighting circuit as the new kid with a chip on his shoulder and a tattoo on his back that marks him as trouble. He's got a personal score to settle with the Underground's one and only Remington "Riptide" Tate.

As Mav trains, he meets a young girl—the only other new person in the town--and sparks fly. When things get heated between them, he finds out she's none other than Reese Dumas, the cousin of Remington Tate’s wife. A girl who's supposed to root against him and a girl he's supposed to stay away from.

But Maverick fights for the woman in his heart, and the monsters in his blood. The world’s eyes are on them and the victor will go down in history as the ultimate fighting champion; the ultimate LEGEND.

* LEGEND is the 6th and final installment of the REAL series, but it can also be read as standalone or after the three Remington and Brooke books (Real/Mine/Remy.)

[su_quote]You cannot believe someone so powerful could hold all of that energy under control, but Maverick does it so well, it’s exhilarating to be under the attention of such force and be receiving one controlled, delicious, calculated dose at a time.[/su_quote]

[su_quote]My panties are soaked, my folds are soaked, soaked for him, and he says, “I could drink you, Reese, and never get thirsty.”[/su_quote]

[su_quote]”You were made to be mine,” he says against my lips, kissing me between breaths. “You know that?” he asks, “You’re mine. My hands were made to touch you; my lips were made to love you,” he says as he sucks along my neck, his tongue trailing down my throat.[/su_quote]

Excerpt

At Tate’s corner, outside the ropes, his coach whistles. “You two get some headgear on. Stat.”

Tate’s lips curl rebelliously, and he looks at me with challenge in his eyes.

I smile back, a feral curl of my lips.

We tap gloves.

No headgear.

I jab. He swings his arm, blocks the hit, leaps back, and I jab again, blocked again.

GENRE

My first foray into the Romance genre came my freshman year in high school English, where the teacher had us all read books from several different genres. So, my first book boyfriend and PnR introduction, if you will, was Richard Merlin, from The Wizard of Seattle. Prior to that, I’d only read Fantasy or Sci-fi, with a little teen horror thrown in for angst. I was reading The Vampire Diaries decades before it was even a twinkle in the eyes of the producers. Now, I am addicted to PnR, always reading at least one book a week about vamps, wolves, angels, demons, Fae, or overall magic.
