Why Do We Like This Book?

Marissa Recommends If you’re looking for a nice new adult story, this is not for you. This is about finding that second chance at love late in life, about blending 2 families, about a mother finding herself and reclaiming her life, and I’m pretty sure Kristen Ashley was inside my head while I read this. It was eery the things I was reading about, the feelings I had while reading Soaring, they seemed to describe exactly what I’ve encountered in my life. Don’t worry, you still get your KA Alpha and strong heroine, even if it does take her a bit to find her strength again. P.S. She threw in a tiny reference to Fairytale Come Alive which had me smiling so hard since it’s a favorite story of mine. [March 2015]

One of the many things I love about Kristen Ashley is the fact that she writes about older characters. Grown-ups who have screwed up and are trying to learn from their mistakes and move on. That sums up Soaring. It's about second chances. At life. At love. It's about starting over. New Town, new friends, new outlook on life. With all of that, we get the Alpha Man, the sassy heroine, the detailed descriptions and the hot sex we always get from Kristen Ashley. Fantastic.

I caught his eyes and when I did, he muttered, “She’s cute, a smartass, makes great brownies and swallows.”  “Is this a stamp of approval?” I asked.  “Like you don’t know a man gets off on a woman who takes all of him in her mouth.”
“All my life,” I whispered, “I was the girl who everyone thought had everything or could get it.  But the only thing I ever wanted was a man like you.  You’re the best man I’ve ever met, Mickey Donovan. . . . And you’re mine.”
“Why is it when you’re a smartass I wanna fuck you more than I normally wanna fuck you?”
“And in return, I’ll try to be more understanding.” He smiled back but his was different.  His was sexy.  “You could.  Or you could get pissed, stick up for yourself, get in my face, be a smartass and earn yourself a couple of orgasms.”

About The Author

My first foray into the Romance genre came my freshman year in high school English, where the teacher had us all read books from several different genres. So, my first book boyfriend and PnR introduction, if you will, was Richard Merlin, from The Wizard of Seattle. Prior to that, I’d only read Fantasy or Sci-fi, with a little teen horror thrown in for angst. I was reading The Vampire Diaries decades before it was even a twinkle in the eyes of the producers. Now, I am addicted to PnR, always reading at least one book a week about vamps, wolves, angels, demons, Fae, or overall magic.
