The Nothingness of Ben by Brad Boney

The Nothingness of Ben

★★★★

Favorite Quote:
“Personally, I think every guy who calls himself straight should take a hike on the gay Appalachian Trail at least once in his life.”
“Ancient Chinese proverb,” Ben said, heading toward the kitchen. “He who butt-fucks all night wakes up with sore asshole.”
Travis laughed and followed him. “Well, as my mama used to say, if it ain’t sore then you’re not doing it right.”

Solange Says:
Ben Walsh is a hotshot lawyer in NYC who left his Texas roots behind. When a phone call informs him of his parents’ death, ordering him home to take care of his younger brothers, Ben’s hard-won life in NY becomes a distant dream. He’s still half in shock when straight mechanic Travis sticks his nose in Ben’s personal business. Only Travis doesn’t stay straight for long. (Can I blame him? Uh, no. Mmm Ben. If I were a man, I’d roll over too, Beethoven.) What follows is an unbelievably hot descent in self-discovery for both men, wrapped around a beautiful tale in a beautiful town with a beautiful family as a cherry on top. Forget gay-for-you, I am gay for this book.[/box_light] [box_light]

Fall Hard by J.L. Merrow

Fall Hard

Favorite Quote:
I let him undress me, feeling a sort of mild astonishment. I’d been so worried before about him seeing my scars. As if they were the worst part of me.

Paul and his former lover took a deadly fall and only luck has Paul survive. Problem is, he remembers nothing of the fall or the dead lover. Man, I am a sucker for the amnesia trope. Add to that the breathtaking setting of Iceland, a good serving of mythology and a hot-like-burning love interest and I’ll do anything for you. Not only is the angst and hurt delicious in this one, the writing is gorgeous and the storyline very satisfying. I’d like a Viggo all for myself, please.[/box_light] [box_light]

Lovers’ Knot by Donald Hardy

Lovers' Knot

★★★★★

Favorite Quote:
“Does it hurt, love?”
“Only a little,” he answered. “‘Tis the way of such things,” Nat said, “of love, of life, and of death.”
“I… I loved him so terribly,” he said, blinking against tears that burned his eyes.
“I know, child,” she said in the same gentle tone she’d used years before. “I saw it then, and I see the ruins of it now.”

Solange Says:
The story of Jonathan and Alayne is one slow burn of longing and love. They’re kept apart by the age they live in and their own ghosts, and their journey to a happy ending will tear at your heart. This book won’t be for everyone. Jonathan’s trauma runs deep and it runs terrible, and LOVER’S KNOT doesn’t pull any punches in having its reader relive it along with Jonathan when the time comes. But this is such a beautiful tale, so well written with unexpected bursts of subtle humor. LOVER’S KNOT is full of loss and hurt, but most of all full of comfort and joy when you need it most.[/box_light] [box_light]

Among the Living (PsyCop 1) by Jordan Castillo Price

Among the Living PsyCop★★★★

Favorite Quote:
I’d always thought that rules were just for the people who tended to get caught.
He pressed one of his knees between mine and spread my legs from behind. (YES PLEASE.)

If you’re planning on dipping your toes into the scorching depths of the Psycop series, you better take a weekend. Once you begin, you won’t be able to put it down. Psych Victor Bane uses his talent of seeing ghosts as a Detective and when his partner retires, Jacob Marks enters the scene. Jacob gets off on Psychs like nothing else, so they basically meet with their tongues down each other’s throats on the first page. But there’s a murdering maniac going around, and Victor’s got ghosts to talk to. AMONG THE LIVING is suspenseful, very well written and one of my favorite gay detectives out there.[/box_light] [box_light]

The Hot Floor by Josephine Myles

The Hot Floor★★★★

Favorite Quote:
“Suck him, pet. Let’s make him scream.”
It was such sweet torture, watching my naked boyfriends kissing and grinding against each other, knowing I couldn’t move to join them. Not when I was hogtied like this.

Heat Rating: Nuclear (m/m/m)

Holy Smut, Batman! This is textbook feel-good storytelling about a shy and slightly awkward guy who has the hots for his at-it-like-(very loud)-bunnies neighbors. Not only is the smut strong in this one, my gay-loving Padawans, it’s laugh-out-loud funny. If you’re in the mood for a triple smut with extra cream, this is your order.[/box_light]
