Dragon Actually (Dragon Kin) by G.A. Aiken

★★★★★

+ Favorite Quotes:
And suddenly he saw the woman behind the warrior. A woman who grew up among evil men but still somehow managed to keep her soul. A woman who fought for the freedom of people she didn’t know and who risked her life every day to defend them against her own kin. A woman who easily called a dragon her friend. And whether she knew it or not she belonged to him. His woman. His warrior. His life. He’d do anything to protect her. Anything to keep her.

He didn’t know when he fell in love with her. It might have been when he first saw her outside his cave, fighting for her life. Or when she yanked his tail. Or possibly when she swam naked in his lake. In the end it didn’t matter. It didn’t matter when he fell in love with her. All he knew was that he loved her now. And would love her until his ancestors called him home.

“Really, Fearghus. You need to stop asking me to let you kill our family.”
Fearghus shook his head. “They just keep irritating me.”

Marissa Says:
If you like hot sex, laughter, a good story and wonderful characters, then you’ll enjoy this book and series, especially since they revolve around dragons. Annwyl falls in love with a dragon, while training with a knight to help her defeat her brother, not realizing all dragons can transform into humans. The dragons don’t usually concern themselves with human wars, and Annwyl somehow inspires them to be on her side. The antics of this family of dragons make the series one of my favorites, and this is a great beginning to it, surrounding the eldest son and a human woman.[/box_light]

Breath of Fire (Rena Drake) by Lilliana Hart

★★★★

+ Favorite Quotes:
“So you’re saying I have to fake it?”
“It’ll be a new concept for you. I hope you’re a good actress.”
“Wow, two jokes in one day. I’m mated to a clown.”
“If you ask nicely I’ll let you juggle my balls.” He kissed me hard and left me standing there with my mouth open wide in shock.

Sex was an untidy business. Good sex was just downright messy.

Marissa Says:
This book leans more towards urban fantasy than straight PNR, as the majority of the book follows the heroine around as she tries to solve a crime against her people, the Draken. Or, for those not in the know, DRAGONS! As Rena navigates through the different clans, she comes across her lifemate, and fights against giving in to him. Once she does, the sex is hot and in one instance gives a whole new meaning to up against the wall. Rena is strong, doesn’t rely on any male to help her, and gives as good as she gets from the men in her life.[/box_light]

Dragon Bound (A Novel of the Elder Races) by Thea Harrison

★★★★★

+ Favorite Quotes:
“Yes, I know,” he said, impatient. “I am going to rend you from limb to limb. Someday. When I feel like it. In the meantime, you will not faint, you will get warm and you will stop being distressed.” His nostrils pinched. “I don’t like how it smells . . .”

“A dragon just gave me a piece of jewelry,” she said. She took another swig and handed the bottle back to Graydon. “Have I been added to his hoard?” He shook his head and drank too. “No, cupcake,” he said. “I’m pretty sure you’ve replaced it.”

“Well, Dragos, it’s one thing to agree that we’re mates, but I don’t know about marriage,” she said. “I read Cosmo. You eat people. I think divorce court might call that the definition of irreconcilable.”

Marissa Says:
In this series, humans, Elves, vampires and other types of magical creatures live together, and leading these creatures is one of my favorite fantasy animals, a dragon. Watching the interaction between Pia and Dragos, as they learn the ins and outs of their relationship, is both heartwarming and funny. Dragos has been alone for millennia, so to suddenly crave the companionship of 1 person is something he cannot conceive. Not only are the sex scenes hot, but the suspense and secondary characters are great additions to the love story. I’ve read this book half a dozen times because I love Dragos’ growling that Pia is his, and Pia being exasperated with his Alpha tendencies. Plus the twists thrown in also add to my favoritism, you won’t go wrong with this dragon’s story.[/box_light]

About Marissa

MarissaMy first foray into the Romance genre came my freshman year in high school English, where the teacher had us all read books from several different genres. So, my first book boyfriend and PnR introduction, if you will, was Richard Merlin, from The Wizard of Seattle. Prior to that, I’d only read Fantasy or Sci-fi, with a little teen horror thrown in for angst. I was reading The Vampire Diaries decades before it was even a twinkle in the eyes of the producers. Now, I am addicted to PnR, always reading at least one book a week about vamps, wolves, angels, demons, Fae, or overall magic. Follow me on Goodreads [/box_dark]
