No one has to find out…” she whispers, pressing her fingers to her lips. “It could be our dirty little secret.
We stand in front of the pulpit as she gives me her first smile. I don’t know why I need to memorize this moment, but I do. Like it’s important. Something I will remember for the rest of my life. That smile is a smile of one in a million.

“This is my sin,” she says, and she licks her fingers and rubs them across her nipples. She moans, and my dick bounces up and down in my pants.
“Is it wrong?” she asks, biting her lip.
I blink a couple of times to try to keep my composure, but I’m burning up with desire. Fuck me; I want to reach through the gaps of the lattice partition so badly.
“It feels wrong,” she whispers, and her hand travels down her body. “Tell me to stop.”
“Only God can tell you what to do,” I answer.
What kind of answer is that? Fuck.
“I can’t speak to him the way you do,” she says, eyeing me. “So … intimately.”
So she did hear everything I said.
Her hand dives between her legs, underneath her skirt, and my cock bursts with need. “I believe you, Frank. You said needs were okay. And I have a lot of needs.”
I lick my lips. “Oh, I can definitely believe that.”
“And I feel … like I need this.” She rubs herself while she looks at me. It’s like she’s not even ashamed anymore. And it’s all my fault. “Like you need this,” she adds.
I frown, rubbing my lips together because I don’t know what to do or say. I can’t admit it. But fuck, do I want her badly. However, I’m a preacher. I shouldn’t even be thinking about this.
“You snooped on me,” I say. “In the chapel. How much did you hear?”
“Enough.” The left side of her lip tips up into a smile. “Was that bad?”
For some reason, it makes me wanna smile too. Guess the cat’s out of the bag. “Maybe.”
“Bad … I like bad,” she murmurs, biting her lip again while she spreads her legs. “I like it when it’s wrong.”
“Is that why you did this before? In the bathroom?”
She nods, and her hand dives down her panties. “I know this is what you want. What you’ve been thinking of all this time … Me,” she says. “C’mon, say it.”
I shake my head. “You know I can’t. We’re in a church.”
“No one has to find out …” she whispers, pressing her fingers to her lips. “It could be our dirty little secret.”
I try to ignore the voice in my head telling me not to cave in, but it’s already too late. My hand rests atop my dick, and I start rubbing it through my clothes.
She closes her eyes and leans her head back against the hard wood, and I take the opportunity to let my eyes glide up and down her body, enjoying the view. She touches herself so seductively that I immediately find myself rubbing faster and faster, trying to keep up the pace. I imagine how her body would look naked. How slick and wet it would be when I brushed my dick along her lips. I can picture it all, and that makes this all so much more frightening. Because … if I already gave into this, there’s no telling what I’ll do next time I see her.
“Fuck …” she murmurs, licking her lips. A soft moan escapes her mouth, and she adjusts herself so I can see her even better. My hand dives into my pants because I’m unable to stop myself any longer.
When she briefly opens her eyes and sees me jerking off, she purrs, “Do you like this?”
“I’d be lying if I said I didn’t …” I mutter, stroking my length. “But it’s wrong, and you know it.”
“Then why are we doing it?” she asks.
“Because this is our dirty little secret,” I hiss, feeling the veins in my dick throb with excitement. “And I need to see just how naughty you can get.”
She grins and slides her panties to the side with her index finger, showing me her naked pussy. And fuck me, it makes me one hungry motherfucker. What I wouldn’t give to be able to suck on her clit.
“Is it wrong that we’re doing this?” she asks. “Because I’m so damn wet right now.”
“Do you even care people are just a few feet away from us?” I ask.
She shakes her head, grinning even more. “That only adds to the excitement.”
God, this fucking woman … she sure knows how to make a guy’s heart throb. And his dick too.
At this point, I really don’t care anymore.
Screw the consequences.
Fuck morals.
I’ve thrown every rule out the window.
I rip down my zipper, unbutton my pants, and pull my dick out of my boxer shorts.
Her eyes widen and immediately focus on my length; her lips parting as if she’s preparing to receive it.
“My eyes are up here,” I muse, smiling.

8 Earth Day Reads: Making The Outdoors Sexy

What screams Earth Day more then sexy lumberjacks, hot fishermen, and rugged outdoorsmen?

We found 8 sexy outdoor-themed reads to help you celebrate Earth Day!

☛ Girl in the Water by Dana Marton

He doesn’t mind breaking rules, just never his own. Rule #1: You don’t seduce the woman you protect.

After the death of his wife and twin sons, Army vet Ian Slaney is a shadow of his former self. On the path of self-destruction, only his best friend’s disappearance in South America pulls Ian back from the ledge. He rushes to Brazil, only to discover that his friend was murdered. The single lead in the case is also the single biggest obstacle–Daniela, a mysterious beauty very much in need of protection, with a host of secrets hidden in a dark past. As the two of them track down clues and try to untangle an impossible case, they draw the attention of all the wrong people, and danger follows them back to the US.

Ian wants the murderers. Daniela wants Ian to acknowledge the hot sparks of passion between them. But convincing Ian to set aside his protective instincts proves more difficult than teaching a water buffalo to tap dance.

☛ Lumberjack (A Real Man, 1) by Jenika Snow

He hasn’t been with a woman in five years.
She hasn’t been with a real man … until now.

I’ve had enough of the crap that goes along with living in the city. So, I packed for a weeklong vacation in the mountains. Isolation in a cabin for the next seven days sounds like a good way to recoup and get my life back in order. After getting lost while hiking, I stumble upon a cabin that has me questioning whether to ask for help, or if I should brave staying the night in the woods.

I left everything behind years ago after the woman I was with betrayed me. Now I work as a lumberjack and live my life as a recluse. Being celibate for the last five years says a lot about my self-control, but I’m a man and have needs, and not giving into what I really want is hard as hell. But I can’t let myself get close to anyone, not even for a few hours. Getting close is how I got screwed over before.
As soon as I see Vivian, I know I have to have her. It’s been forever since I’ve had a woman. Because of a storm rolling in, she’ll have to stay with me overnight. We could do a lot of filthy things in that time. I pride myself on my control, but when it comes to Vivian, I don’t know if I can keep my hands to myself.
I know I can’t.
I have needs, and it’s clear Vivian’s in need of a real man to help her unwind. I can certainly help her in that department.

Warning: If you’re looking for a sappy, pull-your-heartstring kind of book … this isn’t it. If you want a short and dirty story featuring an all-around alpha hero who hasn’t had a woman in years, and a heroine who’ll find out what it’s like to be with a real man … this might be for you.

☛ WOOD by Rocklyn Ryder

Gail: I was pretty sure that rugged mountain men living off grid were a myth– until I blow a tire on a lonely mountain road. I’m no damsel in distress, I can change my tire all by myself! But the jack that came with the SUV needs something under it to give it more height. I don’t need this guy to fall in love with me, all I need is some wood.

Blaze: Swinging the axe is a good exercise when my modest homestead up here in the Bitterroot mountains of Idaho starts feeling lonely. When a curvy woman shows up on my property looking at me like I’m her last meal, I’ve got a better way to work off the tension. She says all she needs is some wood, but I’m going to convince her she just found home.
WOOD features a complete story with no cheating and a guaranteed happy ending for one rugged mountain man and one stubborn lady who manage to find each other even in the most unlikely of places.

☛ Goodbye Paradise by Sarina Bowen

Most people called it a cult. But for twenty years, Josh and Caleb called it home.

In Paradise, there is no television. No fast food. Just long hours of farm work and prayer on a dusty Wyoming ranch, and nights in a crowded bunkhouse. The boys of the Compound are kept far from the sinners’ world.

But Joshua doesn’t need temptation to sin. His whole life, he’s wanted his best friend, Caleb. By day they work side by side. Only when Josh closes his eyes at night can they be together the way he craves.

It can never be. And his survival depends on keeping his terrible desires secret.

Caleb has always protected Josh against the worst of the bullying at the Compound. But he has secrets of his own, and a plan to get away — until it all backfires.
Josh finds himself homeless in a world that doesn’t want him. Can Caleb find him in time? And will they find a place of safety, where he can admit to Josh how he really feels?

Warning: Contains a hot male/male romance, copious instances of taking the Lord’s name in vain, and love against the kitchen counter.

☛ It Started with a Kiss (Sequoia Lake Book 1) by Marina Adair

With a kidney transplant behind her, Avery Adams is determined to channel her inner adventurer and explore everything life has to offer. Only problem is, the closest she’s ever come to a real-life adventure was sixth-grade science camp. So to seize the summer in her rustic Sierra Nevada town, she takes a job as a guide at the local adventure lodge. But Avery doesn’t realize her biggest challenge will register at six-plus feet of rugged good looks and alpha-male charm.

As a member of the Sequoia Elite Mountain Rescue team, Tyson Donovan has made a life out of cheating death and rescuing weekend warriors from the treacherous terrain. “The world is my home” is more than just a motto; it’s what scares off women who would otherwise try to tie him down. When his dad’s health lands the family’s adventure lodge in serious danger of going up in flames, he moves home—and quickly remembers why he left. Until he meets Avery, the irresistible new guide who makes him want to stay.

Tyson gives the inexperienced Avery a lesson in romance that her books could never teach her. And with her undeniable spirit for life, Avery shows Tyson the healing power of love. But with one misstep, everything comes crashing down, and they’ll both have to take the biggest leap of all—into the kind of adventure that lasts a lifetime.

☛ Seducing the Bridesmaid (Wedding Dare series) by Katee Robert

A sexy category romance from Entangled’s Brazen imprint…

She has a plan. He’s about to change it.

Regan Wakefield is a headhunter in both name and personality: driven, motivated, and unafraid to pursue what—and who—she wants. Naturally, she’s thrilled when her friend’s wedding offers her an opportunity to score Logan McCade, the practically perfect best man. Unfortunately, groomsman Brock McNeil keeps getting in her way, riling her up in the most delicious of ways. But Brock’s smooth southern charm isn’t part of the plan…so how exactly did they end up having searing-hot sex?

Regan may pretend the erotic electricity sparking between them is merely a distraction, but Brock knows better. She refuses to see beyond the devil-may-care façade he presents to the world, while he sees straight through hers. Changing her mind—and getting under her skin—is a challenge he can’t resist. And when he wins, Brock will do whatever it takes to convince Regan that the best man for her is him.

☛ Good Wood (Carolina Stallions Book 2) by Eden Connor

Bodie calls his neighbor at the Neon Flamingo Family Campground ‘crazy baby’ for a reason. She’s pure electricity in his arms, but there’s no time for love. He’s got one last chance to shake the sand of Myrtle Beach off his cleats and head for the majors. If he ever hits again, that is.

Rita can’t get enough of the Carolina country boy living next door, but he’s too late to change her mind. She’s got a date with a handful of pain pills and a rip tide. As soon as she does her last good deed and buries a truckload of flamingoes, she’s making sure no one ever hurts her again.

It’s good wood and then goodbye, but will one last wave bring the pair together again?

☛ THE CORBIN BROTHERS: The Complete 5-Books Series by Lexie Ray

Enjoy all 5 Corbin brothers books in this discounted bundle.
All full length books. No cliffies!

People weren’t supposed to live through what I lived through, and most of the time, I wish I hadn’t. I came away from military service fucked up beyond all recognition, slinking back to my family’s cattle ranch in Texas to heal, my tail between my legs. Well, leg. Singular.

My brothers hire Hadley Parsons to put me back together again, and she’s the best of the best, tough and beautiful to boot. She won’t take an ounce of bullshit and she’s made it her mission to see me through my recovery one way or another. With her unconventional methods, I find myself looking forward to seeing her every single day.

Our ranch has been in our family for generations and generations, and it’s said that ranching runs in Corbin blood. If that’s true, though, I must not be a Corbin. I’ve always dreamed of doing something different — anything different — from the ranch, but blood is blood, and I can’t see my brothers’ dream go under. But when the ranch faces a real threat, I don’t have a choice but to do the unthinkable — enter into a marriage of economics with Paisley Summers, daughter of a wealthy rancher one property over.

I’ve known Paisley since elementary school, but that doesn’t mean I like her. Can we learn to love each other in this new arrangement, or will this marriage tear our families and our ranches apart?

I don’t know what it’s going to take for me to get noticed in this family, but I’m pretty sure it won’t take very long to get my brothers’ attention associating with one of the most notorious women in town.

Peyton Crow is best known for granting instant gratification to lonely souls in town, but she’s a lot more than she seems. Once you get past all the sex and conflict, she has a heart of gold and a love and understanding for horses that rivals my own.

But will my brothers finally take my ideas for expanding the family ranch seriously? And will Peyton ever see that she’s worth much more than anyone gives her credit for?

I have secrets in my past that need to stay there — things I don’t talk about. But when one of those nightmares comes back to life, there’s nothing I can do to hide those terrible things from my brothers any longer.

Amelia Banks makes frequent appearances in my nightmares, both of us survivors of a sadistic serial killer from my time away from the ranch as a cop. I thought that was all over and done with — it had almost killed me and driven me crazy. But when Amelia shows up on the ranch, terrified that the killer is hunting her once more, I start to realize that some things are never really other.

I’ve been taking care of the ranch and my brothers ever since our parents died, and have watched my brothers pair off with women who love them one by one. I’d like to experience some of that love, too, but I only have eyes for one woman — who happens to be our housekeeper. It would be too complicated. There would be too many factors against us being together. But I can’t get her off of my mind — even as our ranch suffers a brutal attack that might end the family business for us Corbins once and for all.

Happy Earth Day reading!

Fun Facts About Carey Heywood

1) Who are your favorite authors?

Kristen Ashley, JK Rowling, CD Reiss, Jane Austen

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

On my screen porch or in my den with a fire going.

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I write on a word processor. It is low tech, needs no wifi, and runs forever on 3 double A batteries…that description actually also sounds like a dildo (except for the running forever part). :P

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

I have a character who is an amputee. Having to interview men online to ask them whether they do, or do not remove their prosthetic leg for sex was pretty strange.

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.
The diner in my Love Riddles series (Why Now? & Why Lie?) is inspired by a local diner near where I live, called River City Diner.

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

I’m working on Love Riddles 3 (Why Not?) right now. This book is Reilly and Trip’s story. Expect this release early 2017.

Hi! Thanks for dropping in…

You want to know more about me? Well, let’s see…

I am just an average twenty-something following my dreams. I have a full time “day job” and by night I am an author. I guess you could say that writing is like my super power (I always wanted one of those). I am the lover of wine, sushi, football and the ocean; that is when I am not wrapped up in the literary world.

Please feel free to contact me to chat about my writing, books you think I’d like or just to shoot the, well you know.

A portion of all my royalties are donated to The Marcie Mazzola Foundation.

Fun Facts About Kristen Hope Mazzola

1) Who are your favorite authors?

This is so tough. I have tons! But, the ones that are coming to mind are: Brittainy C. Cherry, Staci Hart, Kandi Steiner, M. Stratton, ZB Heller, Dawn Robertson, JK Rolling, Jane Austin, Rochelle Paige, and Danielle Jaime.

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

In bed for sure. I love being cuddled up in my blankets, wrapped up in my literary world.

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I have a writing blanket with a Dumbledore quote on it that I usually have to have while I am working.

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

I have researched a lot of weird things. One that really sticks out was when I was working on Unspeakable and I had to research bomb detonation and body dismemberment – I am pretty sure I am on some sort of government what list now for that one.

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.
The dog in Stupid Hearts, Dozer, was written about my own dog, Diesel. All of the quirks, annoying things, and hilarious moments that happen with Dozer, Diesel actually did. Sadly, Diesel passed away this year, but he will always be remembered in the pages of Stupid Hearts and that brings me so much joy!!

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

I am working on Hat Trick (which is releasing 5 days before SBC!) I can’t give too much away, but it’s a hockey romance with a HEA and a standalone. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite projects I have worked on so far and I cannot wait to share Gavin and Myla’s story with everyone.

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since… forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Fun Facts About Stylo Fantôme

1) Who are your favorite authors?

  • Lucy V Morgan
  • Christopher Pike
  • David Wong

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

On my couch – the chaise section is miiiiiine

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I binge watch things. Usually one book is almost entirely written to one movie/tv show that’s continuously playing. My Time in the Affair was written with “The Interview” playing in the background. A lot of Degradation was written with “Rebecca” on, and The Bad Ones was written with the show “Schitt’s Creek” playing. What’s on has zero correlation to what I’m writing, and I have no clue why my brain settles on what it does.

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

Nothing too strange, really. Probably something like “how long does it take it choke someone until they die” or “average penis diameter”

I did once have a lively discussion (complete with reenactments) about the ease man have, or lack there of, reaching their taints while masturbating – does that count? Didn’t end up using it

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.

The Bad Ones was entirely inspired by a house I saw while driving on the freeway in West Virginia. That’s it, whole story, just from a simple house on the side of the road.

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

Nobody likes a spoiler!!! …. but a tiny one – expect a lot of books in this series :D

New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Texas where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, and Indiana. She’s married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.

She debuted her first series in 2014 and quickly followed that up with the SEAL of Protection Series, which solidified her love of writing and creating stories readers can get lost in.”

~WebsiteFacebook – Twitter

Fun Facts About Susan Stoker

1) Who are your favorite authors?

I have SO many because one day I’ll be in the mood to read a good cyborg romance, and the next I’ll want a historical I can sink my teeth into! Some of the authors who are in my “re-read” folder include (in no particular order): Lolita Lopez, Laurann Dohner, Tessa Bailey, Cherise Sinclair, Lainey Reese, Hannah Howell, Kristen Ashley, Cynthia Sax, Lexi Blake, Becca Jameson, Vanessa Vale, Carrie Ann Ryan, Anne Malcom, Brynne Asher, Piper Davenport, & Gillian Archer.

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

In my huge leather easy chair at home. I can keep my eye on the dogs to make sure they aren’t getting in trouble, and my butt is nice and comfy. :)

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I don’t know about unique, but once I start a book, I write like a fiend to get it done. I can literally finish a full novel (full for me is around 70-80K) in a week and a half if I’m really on a roll. This is partly because I”m excited about the story, partly because I can type really fast, and partly because if I don’t get it done, I’ll forget major details (like if the heroine lives in an apartment or a townhouse, or what color the Hero’s hair is).

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

Gosh, I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that was strange…I’ve had to look a lot of things up…epilepsy, agoraphobia, medicine, street names, locations, sexual positions, those kinds of things…but nothing I’d really consider “strange”. :)

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.

In the beginning, Tex, from the SEAL of Protection series, was a “throw-away” character. He was never meant to be as big of a character as he became. He was merely a reason for Wolf and his teammates to be on a place headed to Virginia in Protecting Caroline. But by the time I finished book 3 in that series (Protecting Fiona), it was obvious he needed his own HEA. And now he’s the one character who is literally in just about every single one of my books…no matter the series.

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

I guess it’s not really a spoiler, but I’m writing a book called Marrying Emily about the characters in Rescuing Emily (Emily (duh), Fletch, and little Annie). It wasn’t really on the schedule, but I knew I needed to let the readers see Annie in her flower girl dress with combat boots. It’s going to have not only the Delta Force characters, but the SEALs are going to be invited to the wedding as well.

Jordan Marie

“Jordan Marie is the alter ego of a small town country girl. She released her first book in January of 2015 and has been blown away by the amazing support. She’s grateful for each and every reader that has taken the time to read her stories and in the process get to know the men and women that live in her mind. She likes to create a book that takes you on an emotional journey whether tears, laughter (or both) or just steamy hot fun (or all 3). She loves to connect with readers.”  ~WebsiteFacebook

Fun Facts About Jordan Marie

1) Who are your favorite authors?

Julie Garwood and Kresley Cole. I don’t read anymore. I never find time. With two exceptions, I gobble up anything historical from Julie and anything paranormal from Kresley. These ladies are amazing.

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

My favorite place to write is outside. It lets me relax and it helps me to calm my mind so the words flow easier.

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

Unique? Quirky? No… other than hating everything I write and crying I’ll never write again until the book is finished. That’s pretty normal lol.

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

Strangest thing… hmm I’ve had to research a lot of sketchy things that might have put me on the FBI watch list. So I’m not sure. For my last book I had to research golf things.. Now while not strange…it was boring.

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.

Fun fact about one of my books. I like to make characters in the background that mimic friends in my life. Recently Sabrina Paige laughed for two days over the filthy things I did to her in my Devil’s Blaze series.

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

Spoilers? My current series readers are falling in love with the mother of the heroes. Ida Sue. In upcoming books, they’ll find out more about Ida Sue. Including that there’s a child the other brothers and sisters haven’t met yet. It seems Ida Sue has a deep secret.

A shocking electric jolt of lechery left my skin tingling with a renewed awareness. “Jesus Christ,” I muttered.”
“He rips off his towel and stalks toward me. His eyes are hungry for blood and his hands reach out ready to bruise me. He picks me up and throws me down on the table, stomach down. One hand holds the back of my neck pinning me in place. The other hands spanks me through my panties with the flat of his palm until the pain sensors in my flesh render my behind numb.”
” “You know what I think?” His chin touched his chest, the shadows added to his daunting presence. “I think you’re very fucking interested in me. Keep fighting it. Keep misdirecting. I’ll chase you and fuck you sore for the game you’re playing.” His teeth sank into the plumpness of his lips, lips I couldn’t steal my gaze away from. “The way you can’t stop drooling over my cock, you can’t tell me you don’t daydream about me plugging it down your throat.” ”

About the Author

COURTNEY LANE has been creating her own little world since she was very young. When she was eight years old, she began to bring her worlds to life with a pen and paper.

While many of her works touch several different genres, she has an archetype when it comes to the female protagonists in her stories — they have to have certain brand of strength, be deeply flawed, and harbor layered personalities. In her books you will find themes that reflect the darker side of life with a tremendous amount of depth and complexity. She also has an affinity for characters that aren’t necessarily the girl or boy next door, or the people you’d encounter in everyday life. In other words, she prefers to explore characters who aren’t easy to fall in love with.

Any closer and she might be tempted to lick one of those tattoos. And just where had that thought come from? Julie Piper didn’t lick tattoos. She licked the odd Popsicle on a hot Atlanta day. Maybe a cherry lollipop on Halloween. Not a depiction of a charging bull underneath the words…what was that? Latin?
“I can’t tell if you’re struggling because you want me to let you go, or if you want to be overpowered. Explain yourself, Julie.” Her panting breaths were her only answer. She curled a leg around his waist and gave another hard push against his solid wall of muscle. Contradicting herself once more. Between her thighs, she felt Reed harden in reaction to whatever he perceived on her face. He made a desperate sound. “Answer me. Let you go? Or drag you down to the ground and fuck you on your hands and knees? I need an answer now.”
“You’ve had me hard for days, baby. I want to fuck you more than I want to breathe.”
“Hard is the only way you ride it. Ever. Is that clear, Julie?”

“Your hair is awesome and wild, I love that shit … and your eyes. Fuck me, but your eye could inspire men to go to war, to paint works of art, to rip their goddamn heart out of their chet an offer it to you without a second thought.. then and now.”

There was some kind of current dragging and pulling between us that I didn’t trust, didn’t particularly like, but it was strong, and fighting its momentum was wearing me out, wearing me down. I actually wanted to spend time with him.

I resigned myself to the fact that whatever symphony of self-destruction I had created had played its last note. Since I was the composer, I had nowhere else to lay the blame.

Nelle Says:
The latest in Jay Crownover’s Marked Men series brings us the story of Nash and Saint. The couple knew each other back in high school, but those interactions left some scars on Saint’s heart. Years later, when Nash and Saint cross paths the chemistry is palpable; but Saint is un-trusting of the new Nash. Fans do the series will enjoy catching up with the whole Marked Men family and meeting some new, intriguing characters.

Marissa Says:
Jay loves to write her men tortured and with traumatic pasts, and this latest addition to her Marked series is no different. Nash had an unloving childhood until he went to live with his uncle, and from there was raised to be the man he is now. He was a hellion in school, getting arrested for graffiti, but his uncle taught him to use his gift of art in legal ways, by tattooing people, and also learn to run a tattoo parlor with his best friend, Rule, from book one. We met Saint in the previous book, and she also had issues with a childhood of bullying that had left deep scars. It was hard watching Saint push back against a relationship with Nash because she just couldn’t see herself as beautiful or worthy.

We do see everyone from the past three books, and there is some mild spoilers, but overall this is a great addition to the series. Watching Nash not only overcome everything going on his life, but also breaking down Saint’s barriers, with some heart wrenching scenes that made me tear up, it all made them a highlight of the book. Plus, Jay gives us some insight into who the next couple is that will be falling in love, and I can’t wait for that ride.

The Salisbury Key by Harper Fox

Favorite Quotes
All I knew was that I loved him, so much that my heart felt ready to crack my rib cage apart.

“Come on, beautiful boy,” he whispered. “Time to get us both off this hook.” I did my best. I leaned into him, propping my weight on stiff arms, moving carefully. He winced and said no as the head of my shaft breached his entrance, and I considered the sound of it, decided it wasn’t a complaint and pushed on. A moment later his thighs closed warmly on my waist, and he continued a soft, half-wailed litany–ah, God, no, no!–all the way through my slow slide up into his body, his head arching back, his legs wrapping strongly around me.

I burst out laughing, forgetting for whole seconds that my world had crashed and burned.

Warning—Contains bombs, archaeology and explicit M/M sex, not necessarily in that order.

All right, Smuffins. This? This is THE gay romance novel for me. This is what keeps me in this genre, because I am always hoping I will find another book like this. It is my all time favorite. I’ve been saving this because I just don’t feel like I can do this book justice. After I had read this, I couldn’t pick up another book for two weeks. Maybe I was just in the right mood at the time, I don’t know what it was, but The Salisbury Key struck such a deep cord that years later I still think about it and get butterflies in my stomach. It’s the reason why Harper Fox is my favorite author. There is just something about the stories she tells, the characters she creates, the romance, hurt, loss, passion and love that she spins, that grips me and doesn’t let go. I love this book. I love this book so much it makes me tear up just writing this. If you have a day to yourself and you just want to lose yourself in this heartbreaking, uplifting, hot and beautiful world, you won’t regret it. I promise you, this is a book you will never forget.[/box_light] [box_light]

I fell head over heels in love with Gabe in Ruin. But that cocky, sexy Gabe is not who we get in Toxic. This is a story about love and loss, and learning to let go of the past so you can have a future. The story is engaging, beautiful and it brought me to tears more than once. It’s very well written with characters you’ll fall in love with and cheer for. I love that we get to see Wes and Kiersten from Ruin, and Lisa, Gabe’s cousin, plays a big part in the story as well. Rachel Van Dyken delivers another wonderfully unique story that had me hooked from cover to cover.[/box_light]

Life has two stages. Birth and death. That’s it. What you do in between the two? Well, that’s up to you, isn’t it? —Wes M

Behind me, Gabe ceased all motion. The only way I knew he was still there was from the heat that seeped into my back from where his body touched me. More warmth rolled off his hands where they seemed fused to mine. Any minute now, I expected him to pull away, to slip into mask number one or mask number two. Instead, he flipped my hands over, gripping them with his fingers and exhaled, long and slow. Seconds went by, but they may as well have been years. Each time he let out a breath, my heart skipped a beat of longing, needing more of his touch — more of something. My back tingled as the hard planes of his stomach pressed against me. I was in a Gabe cocoon.

And I loved it.

Until the music started.

With slight pressure, Gabe moved my hands to the piano, slowly, effortlessly placing them on each key.

He was playing through me, using my body as an instrument to convey the story of his life. Each time he pressed down on one of my fingertips or guided me to another area of the piano, I felt the sadness of the song clench deeper. The notes became floating tendrils of pain, each one of them slowly invading my body and taking hold until it hurt to breathe.

He moved faster and faster, my hands couldn’t keep up. I pulled back as he continued the song, in such a rush it was like he was yelling but doing it with music. Unable to convey it in any other way.

With a final burst of movement, he lifted his hands off the piano and smashed them against the keys, causing a chaos of notes to burst forth.

Gabe’s breathing was uneven, ragged as he leaned heavily against me, his chin resting on my head, and he whispered brokenly, “I can’t.”

“You were doing so good.”

“It’s like getting into a car with suicidal tendencies. You keep going faster and faster, needing the adrenaline to keep you alive until suddenly you turn the wheel and everything goes black. The notes, they go higher and higher, and right when I feel like I can change the outcome — I panic. Some things…” He sighed and pulled away. “Some things are better left in chaos.”

“Are you sure about that? Are you sure about perfection?” I folded my hands in my lap, but didn’t turn around.

“Sure.” He moved from behind me and sat on the bench. “If life was perfect, how in the hell would we ever learn to depend on someone other than ourselves? If anything, that’s what life’s taught me. The need to be perfect is stemmed in the very belief that it’s actually something we can achieve. Self-actualization — doesn’t exist.”

I licked my lips and looked down at the keys. “Does that mean we don’t try then?”

“No.” Gabe tickled a few of the ivory keys in front of him, the music note tattoos on his fingertips looking darker against the white of the piano. “It just means when you reach the end of your rope, you shouldn’t regret a damn thing, but applaud yourself for trying to do the impossible.”

I felt like he was using double meanings. The philosophical Gabe was a bit terrifying because he made me feel more insecure than the jackass Gabe. But the guy sitting next to me right now? I was beginning to understand, he wasn’t just one person. He was every person, everything, whatever he needed to be, he was.

Like a chameleon.

And suddenly the ending to the story made sense.

Ten different notes all clamoring at once.

Gabe was Chaos.

“So.” He sniffed and cleared his throat. “Now that I’ve totally ruined the moment by talking in my serious voice and scaring the shit out of you — why don’t we work on one of your performance pieces?”

“Okay.” I placed my hands on the piano again, careful to angle my wrists at the perfect degree and keep my eyes on the music ahead. Sometimes I wondered if my posture was better than my playing.

“What the hell are you doing?” he asked in calm voice.

I turned and gave him a firm nod[L1] . “I’m getting ready.”

“To go to battle?”

“What?” I relaxed my hands a bit. “No.” I straightened. “This is the right posture, it’s—”

“If you say perfect, I’m going to kill myself.”

“Someone should have majored in drama.”

He burst out laughing. “Oh, honey, you have no idea.”

“So?” I lifted my wrists again and looked ahead.

“Fine.” He smirked. “Play just like that.”

“Okay.” I started one of my harder pieces, Piano Sonata 14. It felt exactly the same. The movement wasn’t as fast as some of the others, but the timing for it had to be perfect.

“Close your eyes,” Gabe instructed.

He swatted my wrists. “No arguing with your piano master.”

“Say ‘yes, master’.”

I smiled tightly, my eyes focusing on the music in front of me. I started slowly playing. “Not in this lifetime.”

“Bet I could make you say it.” His voice had an arrogant lift to it, which made me all the more irritated. Master? Um, no.

“Eyes.” He growled again.

With a resigned sigh, I closed my eyes. “Better?”

“Immensely,” he said smoothly.

Darkness enveloped my world. All I had were the notes at my fingertips. All I had was the music — that and Gabe.

He wasn’t saying anything.

Which killed me.

It also made me want to open my eyes, but I knew he’d probably just tell me to close them again, so I kept playing.

And then, with a teasing touch, his fingers grazed my chin, slowly tilting it down toward the piano while his other hand went to my upper back then slowly moved down until it was in the middle, with a gentle push, he urged my body closer to the keys.

Eyes closed, posture completely off, I leaned over the piano. Everything felt wrong as I continued playing.

“Slower,” he said softly.

With a sigh, I started playing slower. His hands moved to my hips. And stayed there. Other than jumping a foot, I was still able to concentrate.

“The music,” he whispered, “It’s not just your story — it’s your lover.”

“Okay,” I squeaked. Heat washed over me as the word lover bounced around in my brain. I knew it, but I’d never experienced it. How was I supposed to use something I didn’t know how to use? And how embarrassing was it that I was stuck in that tiny room having never been… stuck in a tiny room with any guy? Lover. I’d take him. If I got a choice. It would be him. But people like Gabe, beautiful people who had music in their soul, who knew how to speak without words… they weren’t for girls like me.

“Each stroke…” His hands pressed against my hips making me gasp. “You need to feel it not just on your fingertips — but everywhere.”

Holy. Crap.

“Feel it here,” he squeezed and then ran his hands lightly up my sides, then resting right underneath my breasts, he pressed again. “And here.”

My breathing picked up speed, as did my music.

“Slow down,” he commanded in that same irritating patient tone. “Where is this story taking me? Where are you taking your lover?”

“Huh?” I breathed.

“Use your hands to tell me the story — use your body to propel the story forward, what happens next… Tell the story, Saylor. Make me feel it without even touching you.”

“But — that’s impossible.”

“You can feel a kiss without touching someone’s lips.”

“I’m confused.”

“Concentrate.” Gabe’s voice was firm. “I want to kiss you.”

“What?” He was lucky I didn’t actually collapse against the piano this time.

“In the story.” He chuckled. “I want to kiss you in this story, so kiss me.”

“You want me to get up and kiss you?” Mind you, I was still trying to play a difficult piece as he was asking me this, which basically meant I must have had talent, because my body was on fire.

“Without our mouths meeting.”

“Through the music.” I clarified in a doubtful voice.

I could hear the smile in his tone as he answered. “Yes, through the music, show me what the kiss would feel like. I want to taste it.”

“But how?”

He laughed softly. “I’m touching them.”

“My lips,” he countered. “They’re soft, open, wet…”

I squirmed on the piano bench, squeezing my eyes shut. “What else?”

“As I part my lips… I wonder what your tongue tastes like, what type of pressure you’d use as you pressed your velvety smooth mouth against mine. I imagine exploring your mouth not just because I want to — but because I can’t help it. I’m lost. And your kiss is my salvation… so, Saylor, will you save me?”

My fingers glided effortlessly over the piano as I imagined his mouth — the way he smiled, the way he took his lower lip hostage when he was deep in thought. The dark look he got in his eyes when there was something he wanted. Our kiss would be epic.

The music picked up speed as I leaned over the piano, pounding each note with the rhythm of my footsteps as I approached him.

His hands would reach for my hips as he pulled me closer. My hands hovered over the keys making my hesitation known.

And then I pressed softly against the ivory, leaning forward as if I was leaning into Gabe with my body pressed against his. My breasts brushed the keys. I moved closer to the piano and then slowed the music.

His eyes would close.

His lips would part.

And we’d meet in the middle — because both of us wanted the same thing. Both of us wanted to taste, to explore, to feel.

I slowed my left hand as my right hand moved quicker across the keys, to show the anticipation.

And then, our mouths would touch.

I pounded the keys with my left hand, making it the loudest part of the piece which wasn’t normally how it was done.

Our tongues would tangle.

I pounded the piano harder.

His fingers would dig into my arms as he lifted me into the air.

I pulled back from the piano, stopping the music, and then gently started the rhythmic cadence again.

Our kiss was the perfect joining of music.

He was the left hand, I was the right.

Separate they sounded like silly scales.

Together — they were beautiful.

When I stopped the piece, I was sweating.

“Open your eyes,” Gabe whispered.

He was breathing so heavily it looked like he’d just run a marathon. With a smile he tucked my fallen hair behind my ear and tilted my chin toward him.

“That…” He leaned in. “…is how you perform. Like every kiss is both your first and last — like you’re saying both hello and goodbye — like you’ve just been born… like you’ve just died.”

She narrows it down to eight carefully selected men, whom she will spend one week with, in exchange for their participation.

You have never read this book. There is no other book like this. This is not a slightly varied version of the old romance formula. This book. THIS FREAKING BOOK! It is so passionate, and deliciously deviant, and overflowing with sex, while managing to be chalk full of the feels. Each time Riya has to move on to the next participant, a little piece of herself (and the reader) gets left behind. Each of the 8 men she meets, you will fall in love with, and want Riya to stay. STAY! CHOOSE HIM! But then she has to move on to the next man, and you fall in love with him too! Sexiness and swoon in spades! A scream at the top of your lungs MUST READ! It seems the only downside to this book is the copious amounts of uniquely personalized, steamy, erotic, explicitly detailed sex… HA! Too much sex!? That’s funny.

This is one of my absolute, personal favorites.[/box_light] [box_light]

Archer’s Voice (Sign of Love, Sagittarius) by Mia Sheridan

Favorite Quotes:
“Someday,” I said, “when we’re old and gray, I’m going to look at you lying in bed beside me, just like this, and I’m going to look into your eyes and know that it’s only ever been you. And that is going to be the great joy of my life, Bree Prescott.”

“It does hurt. It does because I’m afraid to love you. I’m afraid you’ll leave and ill go back to being alone. Only it’ll be 100 times worse because I’ll know what I’m missing…
I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you, and I don’t know how. Teach me Bree. Please teach me. Don’t let me destroy this.”

“I didn’t know enough to dream you, Bree, but somehow you came true anyway. How did that happen?…Who read my mind and knew exactly what I wanted, even when I didn’t?”

She had told me my voice mattered, and her love had made me believe it might be true. And sometimes that’s all it takes – one person who’s willing to listen to your heart, to the sound no one else has ever tried to hear.

Kyleigh Jane Says:
Do you believe in fate? In destiny?

Bree Prescott is running from the painful memories of one horrible night. When she finds herself in Pelion, Maine, she hopes this charming little lakeside town will finally bring her some peace.

Archer Hale is alone. Sheltered and isolated, he lives a reclusive life trapped and silenced under the weight of incredible pain and tragedy.
And then, their paths cross.

This changes everything. This is a little piece of magic, right in your hand. This is a gift. Archer just might be the most beautiful character I have ever had the privilege of reading. You will carry every ounce of Archer’s pain and frustration, and rejoice every glorious moment of triumph and happiness. You will be broken, and inspired. Stripped down, and rebuilt. Restored. A heartbreakingly beautiful story of resilience, transformation, fate, and love. If there were a sixth star, I would give it freely. (I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.)[/box_light] [box_light]

The Girl in 6E by A.R. Torre

Favorite Quotes:
“No one is normal. Everyone is just pretending to be normal.”

“My secret, my obsession is worse than any of theirs. To contain it, I do the only thing I can. I lock myself up. And in doing so, keep myself, and everyone else, safe.”

Kyleigh Jane Says:
By day, Jessica/Deanna sells herself via webcam for $6.99 a minute, and lives off of food and supplies delivered to her door. Her door, which by night, is bolted shut from the outside. She is a recluse. She is a sex-cammer. She has a horrible past. She has a consuming lust for blood and death. Then along comes Jeremy, the delivery guy, who becomes fascinated with the woman behind the door.

A disturbing, intense, and incredibly well written erotic thriller, of lies, fears, demons and desire. There were parts that were so deep and difficult to read, but it felt necessary. Masterfully weaving themes of “destiny,” or a “calling,” and serendipity into an otherwise incredibly dark story. Brilliant.

Frank and Wendy have been married for 13 years.
Wendy loves her husband very much, but she longs for the kind of sex life she reads about in all of her favorite, steamy romance books.
Then one day, Frank takes the wrong Kindle to work…

Yeah. This is the story of us. The woman living the everyday life. Wife, busy mom, erotic romance reader. Frank is shocked when he finds what his wife has been reading, but God bless his vanilla little heart, he sets out on a mission to give Wendy exactly what she wants. A funny, realistic, sexy read that will have us all “accidentally” swapping Kindles.[/box_light]

Not Your Mama’s Romance Books—January 17:

About Kyleigh Jane

Kyleigh Jane I suppose I was introduced to romance at an early age. When I was around 10 years old, I happened upon a highlighted and dog eared copy of “The Joy Of Sex” on my mother’s bookshelf. I was shocked. I was fascinated. Maybe it was the 1970s power muffs, maybe it was the mustaches, maybe it was phrases such as “tongue bath”, who knows. A couple of years later it was V.C. Andrews “Flowers In The Attic,” which upon discovery, my mom took away from me. From there I chugged along reading Danielle Steel novels, until one day, a little book called “Fifty Shades Of Grey” came along. It was a sirens call. It was everything I never knew I wanted. I was hooked. My love of reading romance blossomed into a new love for erotica, and I haven’t stopped reading since. I have a love for stories with grit, and substance, and meat on their bones. The dark stories, the format breakers, the unusual. I’m always searching for that next great read.[/box_dark]

Smut Book Club’s Top 10 Books of 2013

We’ve lived through the good, the bad, and the smutty.

Now that the end of 2013 and beginning of 2014 is weighing nigh on our lives, the obligatory Best Of lists are out.

I admit that I love a Best Of list. It may be why I love the banal entertainment of Buzzfeed and troll bestsellers lists. If I love lists, I figure you do, too.

What’s the criteria for a book or series making it onto this Top 10 Books of 2013 list?

  • It was published between December 2012 – (early) January 2014; if the favorite is a series, the final book is published in this timeframe.
  • It stuck with me—for any reason—beyond the writing of its recommendation.
  • It’s absolutely worth every penny spent.

These may be my top 10 books of 2013, but they are in no way the entirety of my favorite books I recommend. Click here to see my full list of favorites.

As a special bonus, my super awesome columnists and contributors are listing theirs.

And because I love you so, I’m giving away 3 Amazon.com gift cards. Enter below!

“Run, don’t walk, your little fingers over to the buy button to get this book. Falling Into You destroyed my emotions on every possible level. (T)he depths Jasinda takes us into the lives of the characters is overwhelming. Over and over, her words of struggle and of love and of friendship and of loss wrapped around my heart, forcing me to fall into the story.”

“The Mistress is a revelation in storytelling. As the conclusion to the first and present half of the full Original Sinners series, the characters not only come full circle, they envelop the entirety of the story, bring us to our knees, and rock us gently in an ancient rocking chair while part of our soul is comforted through the pleasure of pain. It is perfection.”

“Just like binging on a TV series on Netflix, the ‘episodes’ of the Songs of Submission series is best read back-to-back. Set aside the time to invest in these books. This series is wholly and completely worth the cost and time investment. It is impeccably written, beyond steamy, all-encompassing, and filled with unexpected dramatic twists and turns that had me foregoing all of my motherly, wifely, and professional responsibilities.”

“Never mind that Try is a phenomenal male/male erotica book; Try is a flat-out phenomenal erotica book. It’s not about the romance, and it’s surely not about the will they/won’t they. This is all about the down and deliciously dirty coupling of two hot men—Logan, a bisexual manwhore lawyer and Tate, a straight divorced bartender. I’ve not read another erotica book that had so much more sex than story that also didn’t make me miss the story.”

Just Human: “I loved this book. I loved the sweetness, the humor, the love story, the sexing, the characters, the history, the sexing, and the sweetness. Oh, and the sexing. And then BOOM. I’m left hanging with some serious frustration at the end.”

Still Human: “I love Liv and Danny. I want them to be my very best friends, and if they were real people and I lived in England, I think we could totally be BFFs. After the whirlwind rekindled romance of Being Human left me with a severe case of literary blue balls, I couldn’t wait to get back into reading about these two tattooed lovebirds.”

Collide: “Collide is forcefully intimate in the way it crawled into my heart and took over. I felt so much strife and sympathy for all the characters, wanting to jump in and scream at pretty much every single one at some point in the book. Collide is a definite must-read.”

Pulse: “Gavin Blake is officially anointed to sit atop my Favorite Alpha Male Mountain with all my other boyfriends. Just like Collide, Pulse left me teared up, mad, and deeply in love with the words and characters Gail McHugh wrote. You can’t read one without the other, and thankfully we have a whole story wrapped in Collide and Pulse.”

Protecting What's His Certified Favorite

Protecting What’s His by Tessa Bailey

“This book has everything I want from a story: snark, sex, suspense, and more sex. But it’s not just alliteration that got my rocks off; it was how all of those things were put together into a book that was fun to read, well written, and easy to recommend. Plus, Derek has a very dirty mouth that begs to be obeyed. The only other thing I would want is for a second book as Derek and Ginger take things to the next level, and once you read this, you’ll understand what I mean. A must-read!”

Searching for Moore:  “Even knowing—or partly knowing—what would be happening in the future, there were so many heartbreaking and stunning moments in the book that it made me that much more invested in finding out how it all came together, or in some cases, fell apart. The sex was ridiculously hot for the short scenes we’re given, and the characters are more than lovable. (I’m considering leaving my husband and children to go in search of Schooner Moore.) This is the first of a series that ends with many things up in the air. Searching for Moore is a must read!”

Moore to Lose: “You know how you think you know what may happen in a series as it moves along, and you’re totally tuned in to continuing on that journey because you loved its predecessor? Well, throw all of that out the window when you read Moore to Lose. There’s no way you’re going to get any more out of me about this book other than expect the unexpected.”

“It takes some seriously funny writing for me to actually laugh out loud while I’m reading alone, but Emma Chase made me not only laugh aloud but have to stop what I was reading to re-read what I didn’t believe I just read. Tangled is panty-dropping, outrageously funny, and overwhelmingly lovely. I finished it in nearly one sitting because I had to know more of Drew and Kate and their tit-for-tat, anti-romance story. Tangled is not a must-read; it’s a drop-everything-except-your-spare-batteries and read.”
