Shameless Book Club & The Attendees Of #SBC16 Have Proudly And Generously Donated To OneOrlando FundThanks to the generosity of the attendees and authors of Shameless Book Con 2016, we’ve been able to donate $1,500 directly to OneOrlando Fund!

Shameless Book Con 2016 Donates $1,500 To OneOrlando

During our inaugural author signing event held on October 22, 2016 in Orlando, SBC, LLC collected donations given by attendees and authors on behalf of OneOrlando. We were BLOWN AWAY at the generosity of those who gave. When all of the donations were calculated, the total collected came to be $1,029!

sbc16-oneorlando-donation-money

We rounded that amount up to an even $1,500, and today, on #GivingTuesday, made the donation to OneOrlando Fund.

Can I upgrade my ticket?

Unless you can find someone who is selling their VIP ticket (check the Attendees Facebook Group), upgrades are no longer available. We sold out of VIP passes quickly, so keep it in mind when we put SBC17 tickets on sale!

Am I required to go to pre-registration on Friday?

Nope! You can pick up your ticket and goodie bag on Saturday morning before the signing.

Can I pick up my ticket if I don’t have my receipt?

Sure! You can pull up your registration on your phone in Eventbrite.

If you didn’t place your ticket order yourself or if you placed a ticket order for someone else, go to this form and let us know who will be using the additional ticket.

If your name is not on a ticket at registration, you will have to have the person who purchased the tickets with you at registration.

When should I line up to enter the signing?

We can’t give you a specific time you’ll need to line up for entry, but from past signings we’ve been to, you might want to get there earlier rather than later. The area next to the event space is covered, and mornings in October aren’t horribly hot, so you should be comfortable waiting.

How many books can I bring into the signing?

We have a post full of information for you here.

How many books can I have an author sign at once?

We ask that you keep the number of books for an author to sign at a minimum if there are people behind you in line. Read more details here.

What’s a Fast Pass? What’s a Golden Ticket?

Fast Passes are like reservations or appointments to get to meet an author. You’re not jumping in front of everyone in line; you’re getting to wait in a MUCH shorter, Fast Pass-only line. Fast Pass registration is currently closed but you may cancel or transfer your own Fast Passes at any time.

Fast Passes are explained in detail here.

Golden Tickets are a combination of a Willy Wonka Golden Ticket meshed with a Disney World FastPass soaked in a bucket of shameless book love. Golden Tickets are not available for purchase, only available through our giveaways.

Golden Tickets will be issued to winners upon registration.

Will there be Wi-Fi at the signing?

Wi-fi access is not available for attendees inside of the Universal Center.

Do I really need a ticket for the Sparkler Saturday evening?

Yes, you really do. Registration was open for the free Shameless Sparkler by 1001 Dark Nights event for several months before we had to close registration. We anticipate being able to open the event to non-ticketholders around 30 minutes into the event. We will update our Facebook and Twitter feeds with information if we are able to allow more attendees into the event. You may also wait in a standby line at the event.

What’s the dress code for the weekend?

Pretty much everything is dress how you want. Here are some details:

VIP Cocktail Party – Outside at the Poolside Terrace, though not at the pool. Dress nice-casual for Florida weather: humid and warm. We can hope for a breeze since it is October! Check the weather before you pack; the forecast can change daily.
Author Signing – Whatever you’re most comfortable walking around in for hours on end. Comfortable shoes highly recommended.
Shameless Sparkler – See: VIP Cocktail Party
Costume Ball After Party – Theme: Be Shameless. Be You. Costumes are recommended, though not required. Prizes will be awarded to the best of the best.
UnHoly Day with Tiffany Reisz – Casual is great. You’ll be sitting most of the time.

How can I ship all my new loot home?

UPS will be on-site in the same room as the Books-A-Million pop-up shop from 5pm-9pm on Saturday night. They will have boxes and scales.

Around the Hotel

Where are good places to eat around the DoubleTree within walking distance?

Orlando Ale House (American bar & grill) and Kobe Steakhouse (Hibachi) are in the same parking lot as the event hotel. TGIFriday’s is just across the street in the Holiday Inn parking lot. Carrabba’s Italian Grill is about a 7 minute walk behind Ale House and Kobe, just across the street.

There is a restaurant and a café located inside the hotel, but with construction going on, we’re unsure of their hours and what will be available.

Where can I park?

Parking is available at the hotel for a discounted rate. Payment for parking is next to the entrance of the hotel.

$10/night – Overnight; self-parking DoubleTree guests (includes in/out privileges)
$8/day – Day rate for self-parking event attendees (no in/out privileges)
$8/day – Day rate for self-parking Holiday Inn guests booked in our overflow block (includes in/out privileges); guests will pick up a special key card for parking lot gate at DoubleTree Bell Services desk (must show Holiday Inn room key; room key and name will be validated to be in the room block)

Shameless Book Con: Getting Your Books Signed

You going to Shameless Book Con this year? Or any other author signing ever in the future? This is for you!

sign-all-the-books

Heck YES you can fangirl over an author!

Heck YES you can take pictures with all your favorite people!

Heck YES you can get books and swag signed by authors!

What you can’t do is hold up a line of other readers behind you with a stack of books and swag and body parts for an author to sign ALL THE THINGS.

If there are people in line behind you — say, more than a few — we ask that you limit yourself to having around 3 items signed at one time.

Even if, and especially if, you’re holding a Fast Pass for an author, please be swift with your fangirling.

If you’re catching an author with some free time during the signing, heck yes, get a stack and a half of books signed! Have your leg signed! Sit down and have a coffee!

If you’re getting your pre-ordered-from-the-author books signed, go ahead, but be mindful of those behind you.

We don’t want to be the Signing Police and have to come around giving citations for holding up the line. We really don’t.

We don’t want the people waiting in line behind you to start whispering about you behind your back. We really don’t.

Please, friends. Be considerate of your fellow smut-loving sisters. Their time and their achy feet thank you dearly.

Necessary Phone Accessories Even Though We Hate They’re Necessary

If only our phone batteries could last as long as our will to stay far away from electrical plugs, then we wouldn’t need to carry stupid portable phone chargers and extra charging cords.

But that’s not going to change anytime soon, so we pour our money into our techno-addictions, because nothing’s worse than getting down to 4% and needing to find your squad.

Whether you’re attending Shameless Book Con 2016 (you should) or not (we’ll miss you!), having a portable phone charger with you at times when you know you’ll be draining the battery is a necessity.

Here are a few we recommend! Bonus: You should be able to get them in time for #SBC16!

New York Times and USA Today bestselling romance author. She was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia.

Supporting her all the way are her husband, three sometimes-adorable children, a mischievous black cat, and their nine-pound attack Yorkie.

Fun Facts About Carey Heywood

1) Who are your favorite authors?

Kristen Ashley, JK Rowling, CD Reiss, Jane Austen

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

On my screen porch or in my den with a fire going.

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I write on a word processor. It is low tech, needs no wifi, and runs forever on 3 double A batteries…that description actually also sounds like a dildo (except for the running forever part). :P

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

I have a character who is an amputee. Having to interview men online to ask them whether they do, or do not remove their prosthetic leg for sex was pretty strange.

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.
The diner in my Love Riddles series (Why Now? & Why Lie?) is inspired by a local diner near where I live, called River City Diner.

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

I’m working on Love Riddles 3 (Why Not?) right now. This book is Reilly and Trip’s story. Expect this release early 2017.

Get To Know Her

Hi! Thanks for dropping in…

You want to know more about me? Well, let’s see…

I am just an average twenty-something following my dreams. I have a full time “day job” and by night I am an author. I guess you could say that writing is like my super power (I always wanted one of those). I am the lover of wine, sushi, football and the ocean; that is when I am not wrapped up in the literary world.

Please feel free to contact me to chat about my writing, books you think I’d like or just to shoot the, well you know.

A portion of all my royalties are donated to The Marcie Mazzola Foundation.

Facebook | Website | Twitter

Fun Facts About Kristen Hope Mazzola

1) Who are your favorite authors?

This is so tough. I have tons! But, the ones that are coming to mind are: Brittainy C. Cherry, Staci Hart, Kandi Steiner, M. Stratton, ZB Heller, Dawn Robertson, JK Rolling, Jane Austin, Rochelle Paige, and Danielle Jaime.

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

In bed for sure. I love being cuddled up in my blankets, wrapped up in my literary world.

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I have a writing blanket with a Dumbledore quote on it that I usually have to have while I am working.

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

I have researched a lot of weird things. One that really sticks out was when I was working on Unspeakable and I had to research bomb detonation and body dismemberment – I am pretty sure I am on some sort of government what list now for that one.

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.
The dog in Stupid Hearts, Dozer, was written about my own dog, Diesel. All of the quirks, annoying things, and hilarious moments that happen with Dozer, Diesel actually did. Sadly, Diesel passed away this year, but he will always be remembered in the pages of Stupid Hearts and that brings me so much joy!!

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

I am working on Hat Trick (which is releasing 5 days before SBC!) I can’t give too much away, but it’s a hockey romance with a HEA and a standalone. It’s quickly becoming one of my favorite projects I have worked on so far and I cannot wait to share Gavin and Myla’s story with everyone.

Get To Know Her

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since… forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Fun Facts About Stylo Fantôme

1) Who are your favorite authors?

  • Lucy V Morgan
  • Christopher Pike
  • David Wong

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

On my couch – the chaise section is miiiiiine

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I binge watch things. Usually one book is almost entirely written to one movie/tv show that’s continuously playing. My Time in the Affair was written with “The Interview” playing in the background. A lot of Degradation was written with “Rebecca” on, and The Bad Ones was written with the show “Schitt’s Creek” playing. What’s on has zero correlation to what I’m writing, and I have no clue why my brain settles on what it does.

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

Nothing too strange, really. Probably something like “how long does it take it choke someone until they die” or “average penis diameter”

I did once have a lively discussion (complete with reenactments) about the ease man have, or lack there of, reaching their taints while masturbating – does that count? Didn’t end up using it

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.

The Bad Ones was entirely inspired by a house I saw while driving on the freeway in West Virginia. That’s it, whole story, just from a simple house on the side of the road.

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

Nobody likes a spoiler!!! …. but a tiny one – expect a lot of books in this series :D

Get To Know Her

New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Texas where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, and Indiana. She’s married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.

She debuted her first series in 2014 and quickly followed that up with the SEAL of Protection Series, which solidified her love of writing and creating stories readers can get lost in.”

~WebsiteFacebook – Twitter

Fun Facts About Susan Stoker

1) Who are your favorite authors?

I have SO many because one day I’ll be in the mood to read a good cyborg romance, and the next I’ll want a historical I can sink my teeth into! Some of the authors who are in my “re-read” folder include (in no particular order): Lolita Lopez, Laurann Dohner, Tessa Bailey, Cherise Sinclair, Lainey Reese, Hannah Howell, Kristen Ashley, Cynthia Sax, Lexi Blake, Becca Jameson, Vanessa Vale, Carrie Ann Ryan, Anne Malcom, Brynne Asher, Piper Davenport, & Gillian Archer.

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

In my huge leather easy chair at home. I can keep my eye on the dogs to make sure they aren’t getting in trouble, and my butt is nice and comfy. :)

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I don’t know about unique, but once I start a book, I write like a fiend to get it done. I can literally finish a full novel (full for me is around 70-80K) in a week and a half if I’m really on a roll. This is partly because I”m excited about the story, partly because I can type really fast, and partly because if I don’t get it done, I’ll forget major details (like if the heroine lives in an apartment or a townhouse, or what color the Hero’s hair is).

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

Gosh, I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that was strange…I’ve had to look a lot of things up…epilepsy, agoraphobia, medicine, street names, locations, sexual positions, those kinds of things…but nothing I’d really consider “strange”. :)

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.

In the beginning, Tex, from the SEAL of Protection series, was a “throw-away” character. He was never meant to be as big of a character as he became. He was merely a reason for Wolf and his teammates to be on a place headed to Virginia in Protecting Caroline. But by the time I finished book 3 in that series (Protecting Fiona), it was obvious he needed his own HEA. And now he’s the one character who is literally in just about every single one of my books…no matter the series.

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

I guess it’s not really a spoiler, but I’m writing a book called Marrying Emily about the characters in Rescuing Emily (Emily (duh), Fletch, and little Annie). It wasn’t really on the schedule, but I knew I needed to let the readers see Annie in her flower girl dress with combat boots. It’s going to have not only the Delta Force characters, but the SEALs are going to be invited to the wedding as well.

Things to do before you meet Jordan Marie in October…

Get To Know Her

Jordan Marie

“Jordan Marie is the alter ego of a small town country girl. She released her first book in January of 2015 and has been blown away by the amazing support. She’s grateful for each and every reader that has taken the time to read her stories and in the process get to know the men and women that live in her mind. She likes to create a book that takes you on an emotional journey whether tears, laughter (or both) or just steamy hot fun (or all 3). She loves to connect with readers.”  ~WebsiteFacebook

Fun Facts About Jordan Marie

1) Who are your favorite authors?

Julie Garwood and Kresley Cole. I don’t read anymore. I never find time. With two exceptions, I gobble up anything historical from Julie and anything paranormal from Kresley. These ladies are amazing.

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

My favorite place to write is outside. It lets me relax and it helps me to calm my mind so the words flow easier.

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

Unique? Quirky? No… other than hating everything I write and crying I’ll never write again until the book is finished. That’s pretty normal lol.

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

Strangest thing… hmm I’ve had to research a lot of sketchy things that might have put me on the FBI watch list. So I’m not sure. For my last book I had to research golf things.. Now while not strange…it was boring.

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.

Fun fact about one of my books. I like to make characters in the background that mimic friends in my life. Recently Sabrina Paige laughed for two days over the filthy things I did to her in my Devil’s Blaze series.

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

Spoilers? My current series readers are falling in love with the mother of the heroes. Ida Sue. In upcoming books, they’ll find out more about Ida Sue. Including that there’s a child the other brothers and sisters haven’t met yet. It seems Ida Sue has a deep secret.

Shameless Book Con #SBC16 Welcomes Anna Todd!

It’s no exaggeration to say we’re honored to welcome Anna Todd to Shameless Book Con 2016! She’s been busy traveling around the world promoting her books, and she’s just agreed to sign at #SBC16!

Anna Todd at SBC16

With over 1 BILLION online reads before her story was even published, Anna Todd – identified by The Hollywood Reporter as a phenomenon – is one of the most prolific and successful fanfic-turned-novelist to date.

Anna Todd on FacebookSince 2013 when she started adding fans on Wattpad, Anna has racked up nearly 500,000 Facebook fans, 300,000 Twitter followers, and 400,000 Instagram followers.

Those fans all know about the movie deal she made with Paramount. PARAMOUNT. In May, Daniel Sharman was revealed as the lead character:

“On May 15, After author Anna Todd tweeted a Sugarscape article about the potential casting of Daniel Sharman as Hardin Scott, the bad boy character that used to share Harry Styles’ name. Anna Todd had to change his moniker when she turned her Wattpad fanfics into a series of novels.” via Inquisitr

DAMN HE’S A CUTIE!

And allow me to brag on her a little about being featured in both the print and online editions of The New York Times. Yeah, major.

Oh, and she even has an app!

Some authors do blog tours to share their new book covers with the reading world. Anna is so popular, the cover of her next book was revealed on EW.com this summer. It’s Anna’s take on Little Women, The Spring Girls, and will be out in Fall 2017.

Yeah, we’re pretty honored.

Hey, I get it. I’m one of those girls.
SBC16 Costume After Party Accessories

I don’t normally get all dressed up in pretty things and exotic outfits. My most recent costumes have been Octomom (stuff 8 tiny baby dolls into a big shirt; slap on a black wig), one of Justin Timberlake’s ladies from Dick in a Box (put on an $8 silky robe; slut up my hair and make-up), and when I was 12 I drew a yellow circle on some poster board and called myself a fried egg.

I get it, friends. Dressing up for a costume party isn’t for everyone.

But we lazies don’t want to catch a case of the FOMOs!

Shameless Book Con: Hotel FAQs

Shameless Book Con: Hotel FAQs

UPDATE 10/4: All blocks are sold out for all of our contracted hotels. If you would like to be waitlisted for a room at one of our contracted hotels (DoubleTree or Holiday Inn & Suites) fill out this form with your name, email and dates you’ll be staying. No obligation to book; we’ll contact you if any rooms open up.
Click here to go directly to the form.

We’ve had some questions arise recently about some issues surrounding reservations at the DoubleTree by Hilton at Universal Orlando, the Shameless Book Con 2016 event hotel.

(Aside: Nelle has been working extremely hard on this issue, negotiating with the hotels to get you the best deals. She deserves a drink or 20.)

NOTE: If you booked at the DoubleTree and they have chosen your room to be moved to the Holiday Inn and Suites, you will be contacted by the DoubleTree.

If you were NOT contacted directly by the DoubleTree either via email or phone, you may confirm your status by contacting the DoubleTree Reservations Manager, Barbara Bright, at (407) 206-7049.

**Anyone who cancels their DoubleTree reservation and books their room at the Holiday Inn and Suites without first being contacted by the DoubleTree runs the risk of not receiving our perks or room rate (explained below).**

If you would like to cancel your reservation at the DoubleTree and NOT re-book, please contact Nelle on Messenger with your reservation number BEFORE you cancel.

UPDATE 10/5: Our room block at the Hampton Inn is full.
Those who have not yet made a reservation of any kind are encouraged to book your room for Shameless Book Con 2016, our official overflow hotel is the Hampton Inn Orlando North Universal Blvd Area (Group Name: Shameless Book Con). The room rate is good for up to 4 people per room and includes breakfast and internet access.

5621 Windhover Drive, Orlando, Florida, 32819 TEL: +1-407-351-6716

10/19 & 10/20 $109/night; 10/21 & 10/22 $119/night; 10/23 & 10/24 $99/night

**Hampton Inn rates are lower than the DoubleTree, even on peak days. Right now, our rate is $50 per night lower than the standard rate.**

Some Background

When we signed a contract with the hotel for the event and room nights, we were given a highly discounted rate for our guests of $129/night. Because the weekend falls right in the middle of Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights peak season and the hotel is directly across the street from Universal, they usually book the hotel for rates at least $200/night and higher.

Once we filled up our initial room block with your reservations, we contracted an additional room block at a rate of $139/night. This occurred back in early 2016. Once we filled up the second room block, we arranged with the local Hampton Inn to provide overflow rooms. UPDATE 10/5: Our room block at the Hampton Inn is full.

Renovation

All was well until last week when we were notified by the hotel that they would be going through a property-wide renovation, and they would be closing down one of their two room towers. That’s HALF of the hotel. This is something neither Shameless Book Club nor the hotel can control; this is a mandate that the Hilton corporate office has made.

Luckily for us, the hotel is not closing the entire event space and moving our event. Other events have had to move in cases like these.

Who is Moved

When the DoubleTree staff approached us last week about displacing our guests to a neighboring hotel, we negotiated what we feel is a fair compensation. Those approached by the DoubleTree will be moved to the Holiday Inn and Suites. It’s a comparable hotel in both price and amenities and is .2 miles from the DoubleTree – literally across the street as you can see in the Google Maps photo here.

DoubleTree on the left; Holiday Inn on the right:

14012312_10206922703246760_2133785480_n

Walking (or displacing) guests at an overbooked hotel is not unusual but it is unexpected and an inconvenience. We are doing everything we can to make the inconvenience as hassle-free as possible.

What We’re Offering

  • 1-Bedroom suites at $129/night; 10/21-10/22 (Nearly $100/night less than their best available rate)
  • Complimentary on-site parking for guests
  • Free cancellation of your reservation within 72 hours of arrival

NOTE: The Holiday Inn and Suites has required that Shameless Book Club enter into a contract to guarantee the room-nights in order to allow for you to forego a non-refundable deposit.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THESE TERMS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BY THE HOTELS AND ARE APPLIED TO ANY ATTENDEES WHO HAVE ALREADY BOOKED AT THE DOUBLETREE.

Thanks to the generosity of the DoubleTree and our negotiation on behalf of our attendees, those people who are being displaced to the Holiday Inn and Suites will receive the following compensations at the DoubleTree for the duration of our event:

  • Complimentary on-site storage (book, swag, luggage, etc) with DoubleTree bell services (Please tip the bellman when you drop off and pick up!)
  • Complimentary wi-fi in DoubleTree hotel public areas (This does not include wi-fi in the event rooms; only in the hotel lobby and restaurants.)
  • Complimentary use of the DoubleTree hotel pool

Parking at the DoubleTree

  • $10/night – Overnight self-parking DoubleTree guests
  • $8/day – Day rate for self-parking event attendees (no in/out privileges)
  • $8/day – Day rate for self-parking Holiday Inn guests booked in our overflow block (includes in/out privileges); guests will pick up a special key card for parking lot gate at DoubleTree Bell Services desk (must show Holiday Inn room key; room key and name will be validated to be in the room block)

We Need Volunteers

We are also asking for volunteers to move from the DoubleTree to the Holiday Inn. This will include people in DoubleTree rooms at $129. We would give you love, perks (see above), AND A GOLDEN TICKET if you are moved or if you volunteer with us to move! If we don’t get enough volunteers, the DoubleTree will select the rooms that need to move, and we don’t want that.

We’re so thankful that those of you who are being walked are being understanding and flexible! We hope this event knocks you out in the very best ways.

Were You Moved? Willing to Move? We Need Your Info!

Click to open a new window to fill out the form if you can’t see it below.

See you in October!
