There was a world of difference between the statements “I want to see you” and “I want to watch you”, and Allison felt that difference right in her core. the first was flirtatious, a compliment. The second would scorch the earth to bare rock and the smoke would smolder for days if you let it.
“I love you,” she said.

His eye widened. “You can’t say stuff like that to a monk,” he said.

“Let’s go have sex all night long.”

“You really can’t say stuff like that to a monk.”

She’d known nothing but love here, nothing but kindness. But someone must have left the door open a crack and evil had snuck in when no one was looking.
