Code of Silence has many interesting pieces to it and Shantel Tessier does a fantastic job tying them all together. While this is a standalone, it seems to act as the prequel to her Dark Kings and trust me when I say, this introduction will have you BEGGING for the Kings. Luca & Haven have an interesting start considering he basically buys her but don't think for one second she is some damsel in distress. She is as feisty as they come and makes him work for every inch she lets him have. The sexual tension is explosive. Shantel does an amazing job setting the tone for the secondary characters development in future books and I have a feeling I am not going to be able to get enough of the Kings!

About This Book
He tastes like everything I hate and love all at once. His tongue enters my mouth, and I try to pull away, but he nips at my lip, and I whimper. I kiss him back. Aggressively. I take all my hate and pour it into this kiss. Hoping he chokes on it.
“I bought you flowers.” I gather up her mess of a hair into my fist. I run my lips across the top of her back to her other shoulder, softly kissing her damp skin.
“Flowers die,” she growls.
I smile against her skin. “Would you prefer diamonds?”
“Diamonds were just once coal,” she bites out.
“How about orgasms?”
He spreads my legs wide, coming to stand between them. I try to shove him away, but he easily pushes my hands. I try to shove him away, but he easily pushes my hands behind my back and holds them in place by my wrists. His lips fall to my neck. “Fight me, Haven,” he growls, his teeth nipping at my sensitive skin, and goose bumps break out across my body. “Pretend you don’t want me to fuck you.”
Dangerous and feared.
Those words describe my future husband. Who just so happens to also be my ex-boyfriend.
It’s complicated. Two years ago, he broke my heart when he left me to do his father’s bidding. After months of crying, I finally accepted he was gone and wasn’t going to look back. That maybe he’d never loved me at all. I never wanted to see Luca again.
Now a cruel twist of fate has signed me over to him in a heartless deal. I’m his. He thinks he did me a favor, but I feel like I’ve been given a death sentence. He doesn't want to get married because he still loves me. No, he did it for money. More power.
I’m going to be a mafia wife. And there’s only one way out of it. Death.
But as it turns out, someone else doesn’t want me to marry the ruthless Luca Bianchi. And if he has his way, I’ll see that early grave.
Due to mature content and themes this book is recommended for readers aged eighteen and over. Code of Silence is an arranged marriage and a complete standalone. This novel may contain triggers.
