First, Ill start by saying the romance in this is secondary. It is not what the plot revolves around but it is there and it works perfectly with the story line. If you like books with darker content, this story is a must read. I enjoy mystery and suspense and Richard Ryker conjured up a book filled to the brim with both. Marcus stops at nothing to get back his kidnapped daughter Alyssa and the story line progresses and unfolds fast. Marcus and Stormy have a very "low key" romance. It slowly builds but with the situation at hand, trust is hard to come by. Nevertheless, I enjoyed Stormy's character and loved her relationship with Marcus, even through all the turmoil. The writing is evocative, the characters are dynamic and the plot keeps you turning those pages wondering... imagining... hoping. When you find yourself holding your breath as you are racing through each and every word, you know you have stumbled upon some masterful storytelling.

"You know, growing up, I always fancied myself a Nancy Drew in the making."
" Nancy Drew?"
"She's a smart girl who takes down the bad guys. That's what I loved about her," she said. "Or, maybe it was that almost every book in the series describes Nancy as having titian hair."
"It's a shade of red, like mine. Anyway, I figured with that much in common, I was bound to be a sleuth. Instead, I ended up in law school."

Over the past few years he'd learned how attracted some women were to the lonely, single dad, as if to fulfill an archetypal drama where they, the woman, would come to his rescue, the maternal hero. He called it the Sleepless in Seattle effect.

Tonight Marcus stepped back into the world of dating for the first time since his wife died three years ago. Things are going well. Interesting conversation with an attractive woman, first-rate food and even better wine. Life is good again. What Marcus doesn't know is that his nanny has just abducted his eleven-year-old daughter. To Russia.

Marcus's nanny is his ex-sister-in-law. A survivor of war crimes in her home country, Kamila's lingering trauma--and desire for revenge--drive her to make decisions that put her and Alyssa at risk.

Marcus isn't about to entrust Alyssa's fate to a slow-moving legal system that has no authority beyond the borders of the United States. Standing between Marcus and Alyssa are corrupt Embassy staff, Chechen rebel fighters, and the Russian Army. Marcus and his long-time friend and newfound romantic interest, Stormy, chase Kamila to Moscow, across the Russian countryside, and eventually into the heart of a territory controlled by Kamila's father, a rebel leader who is the last man Marcus expects to offer help.

Will Marcus and Stormy find Alyssa before Kamila gives in to her darkest thoughts? What drives Kamila's deep-seated hatred of Marcus? Dark Sky Falling is a suspense-filled psychological thriller that promises to keep you guessing until the last page.

I read. I create. I get in trouble. That is me in a nutshell. I live in a snarky, artistic, eclectic world where BDSM and Dark Erotica are high on my reading list. I yearn for a really raw, gritty book where the lead guy/girl is more like a villain and I am left completely mindf*cked. The more the usual lines of morality are blurred, the better. I am an Alice in Wonderland Freak, an Edgar Allan Poe lover and an ocean addicted mermaid. I like originality when it comes to my books. The dirtier, the better.
