I’ve been hoping for Slate’s story since we first met him in book 1 of this series, and I’m so happy he found his love after everything he’s been through. You knew he was a good man just watching him interact with his grandmother, sister, and her children, but then seeing him fight his attraction to Harleigh was both funny and sad. He didn’t think he deserved a good woman like her. Once all of his friends had found love, he knew he couldn’t stop himself for claiming Harleigh anymore. Harleigh was so cute, with the right amount of attitude for this big ex-con. And Lani let us see the other couples from this series, and they helped inject more humor to the story, as well as showing Slate how they had his back, even when he tried to be a loner.
