This is not your mama's romance book. In fact, it's not a romance book at all, unless you call "falling in love with pain and fear of the unknown" a romance.

Tarryn Fisher delivers a book that twists the literary knife deeper than you think it could go. She creates a visual space that is confusing, demonstrative, and set in an anti-love story. Twist after turn wind the characters through the wringer, and I don't know if I'm meant to like them, but I feel for them. I felt so many fears, because Tarryn Fisher is a top-notch writer who means to make us feel. Mud Vein certainly made me feel and is highly recommended. [May 2014]
