This book could very well be the best book I have read since I started recommending books for Shameless. It's a historical romance, so there's no instant gratification here, but there is a slow build that had me writhing right along with the heroine, wondering if she would ever get what we both wanted. Of course, there is also a Masked Marauder, political and historical intrigue, and a dangerous mystery, culminating in a surprising ending that I did not see coming at all. I am really looking forward to the rest of this series, as this first book was just amazing to me. ~ Jean [April 2018]

Briannon's hands pressed against his dinner jacket as she stared up at him. Shock clouded her expression, but something else simmered there, too. Archer read it clearly. Desire.

She wrapped her legs around his waist, making him inhale sharply, and more than conveying what she wanted. He grinned at her boldness and twisted to his back, taking her with him until she was straddling his hips. Brynn cried out in surprise as he pressed intimately up into her and flushed hotly at the brazen position.

His mouth took hers in a ravenous kiss. His tongue mimicked the sensuous slide of his fingers, driving her into a near frenzy. With shameless greed, Brynn closed her eyes and instinctively thrust her hips against his hand. She almost sobbed at the relentless urgency of his fingers as liquid fire raced unheeded along her limbs, building and building.

Publisher's Synopsis

He stole their riches, she stole his heart.

The cold and aloof Marquess of Hawksfield is the worst peer in London. He has no friends, no fortune, and no time for fools. The dissolute ways of the ton disgust him. But when Archer assumes the identity of the mysterious and devilish Masked Marauder, he is free to do as he pleases.

Sheltered heiress Lady Briannon Findlay is a wallflower, and prefers it that way. Until she meets the nefarious Masked Marauder, a gentleman thief waylaying carriages from London to Essex, who awakens sensual impulses she never knew she had. Provocative and darkly attractive, his artful seduction leaves her wanting more.

When Brynn discovers that Archer and the Masked Marauder are one and the same, trust and attraction collide. But after a murder is committed by an imposter marauder, they must risk everything to find the real killer...including their love.
