What an emotional roller coaster this story was. Adam finds himself drawn to Isabel and her young daughter due to circumstances from an abusive marriage she is in. He immediately becomes a protective barrier for them and I loved how the book progressed. There is heartache and struggle within these pages, but the beauty of survival is what makes this book stand out. The pieces of this story written from the daughter Sophie's point of view were so sad to read but, in that fear, and innocence came a sense of hope with Adam and it really took the story to a different place for me. Not many adult romance books show a child's POV and I loved that aspect of the story. Truly a book of survival and strength showing us that there is life and love after trauma and hurt.

“I want you to touch me,” I confess, looking into his eyes for the first time in weeks. “I want to know what it’s like to feel pleasure,” I whisper, scared he’ll turn me away again.
“I can help you with that,” he smiles, walking toward me and stretching out his hand for me to take. I don’t hesitate in placing my hand in his and the smile he gives me will always be saved in my heart.
My head drops back against the door when my grinding hits just the right spot, a moan ripping from my throat. Adam’s mouth takes advantage of my exposed neck, kissing and nipping at my skin.
“I want to have another baby,” the words pass my lips on a moan.
“Marry me and you can have all the babies you want.” Adam doesn’t miss a beat, doesn’t hesitate, just keeps tasting my flesh.
“You’re so wet for me, baby,” he breathes into my ear.
He kisses down my neck, nipping and sucking on my skin while stroking me. Helpless against the pleasure, I grind against his hand, chasing the orgasm I know he’s going to give me. With my hands in his hair and his mouth sucking on my breasts, it doesn’t take long before I’m coming. I yell loudly, unable to keep quiet, grinding hard against his hand.

I might be the one who swore an oath to save lives, but they saved me...
Saving lives isn't just my job, it's my whole world. Working eighteen hour days, I live in the hospital, running from patient to patient until I encounter a mysterious woman who stops me in my tracks. Afraid of her own shadow, I quickly diagnose that not all of her injuries are physical and the helpless look in her eyes turns my world upside down.
I follow up with her, trying to convince myself that my actions are that of a concerned doctor. But it's more than that... turns out there is more to her as well. She's a single mom, and the fear in her eyes isn't just for herself, but for her amazing daughter. Before I even realize what's happening, I'm determined to save them both and it has nothing to do with oaths or medicine. First, she will have to trust me. Not just with her life, but her heart.
