I am always such a sucker for a story that is set in New York City. Add in a young artist and a heart-warming relationship and you got me hook, line and sinker. Ellies character instantly drew me in. She was just so incredibly relatable as a person, going through the trials of life, dealing with panic attacks and contemplating her career path. I adored Tyler and his pursuit of Ellie. Watching him try to break through her guarded walls was one of my favorite aspects of this book. Loren Beeson writes an incredibly detailed and compelling story. I honestly cannot believe this is her debut novel. Her descriptions of the city, the characters and the emotional triumphs and downfalls throughout this story are that of a seasoned author. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from her!

Warmth unwillingly spreads its way through me at his tender touch. I may deny his advances, but I can’t deny the responses he evokes from my body.
He presses tender kisses to my collarbone. “I will never hurt you.” More warm kisses make their way up my neck and I squeeze my eyes tighter, desperately trying to hate this, but not finding a single piece of me that does. “I promise I will protect you, always—even if I have to protect you from yourself.”
“You have no idea the things I want to do to you right now.” I’m aching, and finding it hard to focus on what he’s saying to me. I want him to do those things—all of those things, right this second. “But I can’t do this if you won’t tell me. I need you to say it.”
