I am normally not into the daddy/little story line but The Protégé is much more than that. Isabeau is taken under Lazlo's wing at a very young age but it is innocent in nature. It begins as a mutual love of music and art and its grows into something much more. Lazlo was so in control throughout the book. I loved how aware he was of his feelings and needs throughout the story and how he treated Isabeau as if she was the most precious thing the world has ever seen. The daddy/little relationship is not for everyone, but the writing in this story is so beautiful and well developed you see past the dynamic to the love underneath it all.

About This Book
Good girl, Isabeau. All three. Daddy. Sir. Maestro. I rule you in all three parts of your life and don’t you fucking forget it.
My benevolence is given when I choose. I control when you get to come and when you don’t. Even if I give you that satisfaction, this is never over. My control. My praise. My punishment. My comfort. I bestow them, and always on my terms, little girl.
Something in me matches something in you. When I hold you in my arms I feel everything that you are, and this is how I cherish you. You make me feel free.
He’s always protected me since I was eight years old, the neglected girl he took off the street and raised as his own. Laszlo can feel what music needs instinctively. He can tell what I need.
My world shattered the night of my eighteenth birthday and he still hasn’t forgiven me for what I did. I’m not asking him to love me, touch me, take me to bed. What I want goes deeper than that and I have to say this out loud because it’s one thing that music won’t be able to tell him.
I want what only Laszlo can give me. I want to be his protégé again. And this time, I’m going to be so good for him.
