This story kept me on the edge of my seat til the very end. It has a darker theme and some pretty intense moments. Triggers include kidnapping, assault and torture but not so over the top that you have a hard time connecting to the characters & following the intricate plot. I am usually not a fan of a "slow burner" but I definitely think Ketley Allison knew what she was doing building the suspense and turmoil. Emme and Spencer have a past and while I wish I got more answers, the overall feel of their chemistry was strong and timeless. I loved Emme's character. She was a strong female lead, even with everything happening to her. Overall I found myself not being able to put this book down and that to me is a win!
