What an amazing debut by A.R. Simmons. Holy wow! This book blew me away. It places the idea of soulmates in a box and wraps it with a beautiful big bow. Alison and Josh have a love that denies the realities of the world. The book has layer upon layer of emotion, trauma, heartbreak and suspense. Somehow, in the middle of all the twists and turns, a love connection happens that proves to stand even the test of the harshest truths. The unique setting that A.R. Simmons creates had me connecting with characters on such a personal level. When Alison hurt, I felt my heart hurting. When she was swooning over the sweetness of Josh,I felt myself getting butterflies. Her poor family has been through so much and to watch her claw her way back to any resemblance of happiness was inspiring. I was left in complete shock towards the end of the book. Even as I type this rec, I cannot believe the turn the book took. Truly, a breath of fresh air when it comes to young romance and creative writing. I was happy it didn't end on a cliffhanger, but I cannot wait to see where this story goes!

Our Favorite Quotes
Blazes of passion burned through our veins when we pulled each other closer. I hated the space that separated us. For so long, all I could think about was kissing Josh; now I wanted more.
“Did you honestly think I would let you fall? Where's the trust?”
“You made me fall in a different way…”
With tender lips, Josh kissed me slowly and passionately. It wasn't a hungry lustful kiss, but a loving and compassionate one. Josh wanted to express how much he loved me without words, how every touch he placed on me and how his mouth parted my own was filled with nothing but true love and security. Josh wanted me to know that his entire being, his soul, his touch, and all of him would belong to me and me only. I was his; he was mine.
