I love Pride & Prejudice and this short adaptation of it was so well done. I enjoyed the twist of having it during WWII while keeping the romance we've all come to love between Darcy and Elizabeth a focal point. The banter is there which was always a huge reason I adored the original story. The ending was so incredibly sweet. I only wish this was longer!

It seemed Charles Bingley had fallen madly in love with Jane Bennet only moments after first setting eyes on her.

He imagined her small, warm form pressed against his on a cold night. She was the home he wanted to return to.

Because Elizabeth, I love you. And I will come back to you. If only to give you the chance to tell me to go to hell and never return.

Publisher's Synopsis

“When this war is over, I will come back. And you will love me.”
4 June, 1940. The last day of the Dunkirk evacuation. On one side of the English Channel, Elizabeth Bennet looks to the horizon, counting the boats returning from France, wondering if it is possible to learn to love a man in his absence. Across the narrow stretch of sea, two exhausted men stand, shoulder-deep in the water, waiting for one more boat to come and take them home.
On the eve of the Second World War, Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy meet in Kent, in a small coastal town called Meryton. He thinks she is tolerable at best, she thinks he is a pompous ass. Will the terror sweeping across Europe tear them apart or pull them closer together? Can Darcy keep the promise he made her before he left?

I read. I create. I get in trouble. That is me in a nutshell. I live in a snarky, artistic, eclectic world where BDSM and Dark Erotica are high on my reading list. I yearn for a really raw, gritty book where the lead guy/girl is more like a villain and I am left completely mindf*cked. The more the usual lines of morality are blurred, the better. I am an Alice in Wonderland Freak, an Edgar Allan Poe lover and an ocean addicted mermaid. I like originality when it comes to my books. The dirtier, the better.
