Things to do before you meet Susan in October:

Get To Know Her

New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Texas where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, and Indiana. She’s married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.

She debuted her first series in 2014 and quickly followed that up with the SEAL of Protection Series, which solidified her love of writing and creating stories readers can get lost in.”

Fun Facts About Susan Stoker

1) Who are your favorite authors?

I have SO many because one day I’ll be in the mood to read a good cyborg romance, and the next I’ll want a historical I can sink my teeth into! Some of the authors who are in my “re-read” folder include (in no particular order): Lolita Lopez, Laurann Dohner, Tessa Bailey, Cherise Sinclair, Lainey Reese, Hannah Howell, Kristen Ashley, Cynthia Sax, Lexi Blake, Becca Jameson, Vanessa Vale, Carrie Ann Ryan, Anne Malcom, Brynne Asher, Piper Davenport, & Gillian Archer.

2) Where is your favorite place to write?

In my huge leather easy chair at home. I can keep my eye on the dogs to make sure they aren’t getting in trouble, and my butt is nice and comfy. 🙂

3) Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?

I don’t know about unique, but once I start a book, I write like a fiend to get it done. I can literally finish a full novel (full for me is around 70-80K) in a week and a half if I’m really on a roll. This is partly because I”m excited about the story, partly because I can type really fast, and partly because if I don’t get it done, I’ll forget major details (like if the heroine lives in an apartment or a townhouse, or what color the Hero’s hair is).

4) What’s the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?

Gosh, I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that was strange…I’ve had to look a lot of things up…epilepsy, agoraphobia, medicine, street names, locations, sexual positions, those kinds of things…but nothing I’d really consider “strange”. 🙂

5) Give us an interesting fun fact about one of your books.

In the beginning, Tex, from the SEAL of Protection series, was a “throw-away” character. He was never meant to be as big of a character as he became. He was merely a reason for Wolf and his teammates to be on a place headed to Virginia in Protecting Caroline. But by the time I finished book 3 in that series (Protecting Fiona), it was obvious he needed his own HEA. And now he’s the one character who is literally in just about every single one of my books…no matter the series.

6) Any spoilers for current projects?

I guess it’s not really a spoiler, but I’m writing a book called Marrying Emily about the characters in Rescuing Emily (Emily (duh), Fletch, and little Annie). It wasn’t really on the schedule, but I knew I needed to let the readers see Annie in her flower girl dress with combat boots. It’s going to have not only the Delta Force characters, but the SEALs are going to be invited to the wedding as well.
