Nalini Singh
In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of "rehabilitation"–the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was…
Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a Changeling hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy coexistence, these two races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several Changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion–and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities–or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation…
I loved Lucas, he was a great Alpha male, and I loved he would do little things to try and get reactions out of Sascha. The bear poking the human . . . sort of. The world building is extensive and I can’t wait to see where Nalini takes it, adding to the different layers of the 2 main packs, the humans and Psy. I love Nalini’s angel series, and since this one has been around longer, I was a little daunted about starting it. I have a lot of catching up to do but I feel a binge read coming on for this series.[July 2015]
Slave to Sensation is the book that hooked me on Nalini Singh’s genius. Lucas and Sascha are one of my favorite couples in the Psy-changeling 14-book series (and I’ve read every single one). Lucas’s dominance and tenacity, and playfulness—he is a cat after all—make him one of the hottest alpha male heroes I’ve had the pleasure of having as my book boyfriend (sorry, Sascha). The story is both fun and full of adventure and mystery, and some gore. It will make you run the gamut of emotions, and in the end, there is satisfaction, and an immediate need to start reading the next book in the series. And you’d be in luck, because there’s 13 books already out there and available for your consumption. It’s okay to binge. [July 2015]
