Recommendation

I wasn’t sure Joanna Wylde would be able to match my love of Picnic, but she did it with Painter. I feel Painter’s story is a little more New Adult, but still just as raw as the rest of the Reaper’s stories. I loved the letter writing aspect of their relationship and the dual POV really enhanced the story. I liked hearing the reasons Painter was using to refuse to be anything more than friends in the beginning, but then also seeing what dirty things Painter was thinking about as he fought his attraction and love for Melanie. Then, Melanie, who he thinks is Little Miss Innocent, has just as many dirty thoughts about Painter and we also see how much she hates being just friends. This is by far the funniest Reaper’s story to date, but don’t worry, plenty (PLENTY) of alpha male chest beating and claims of “MINE” can be found within these pages. Just how we like ’em.

Excerpts

I wanted to lean over and kiss him. Crawl on top of him and grind and writhe and hump and do things I was relatively sure qualified as molestation in the fine state of Idaho.
I probably owed a lit candle in church or something, because I'd asked for a titty fuck and the man upstairs had raised me a blow job. The fervent Jesus fucking Christ I whispered probably didn't cut it.
"I have no idea how I'm lucky enough to be here with you right now, but please know you have my eternal appreciation." Christ, did I just grow a pussy? I gave a quick glance to check, because the shit coming out of my mouth sounded like a fucking Hallmark card.

Publisher synopsis

The New York Times bestselling author of Reaper’s Stand is back in her “uber-alpha rough world of MCs”* as one woman’s future is rocked by the man whose hardcore past could destroy her…

He never meant to hurt her.

Levi “Painter” Brooks was nothing before he joined the Reapers motorcycle club. The day he patched in, they became his brothers and his life. All they asked in return was a strong arm and unconditional loyalty—a loyalty that’s tested when he’s caught and sentenced to prison for a crime committed on their behalf.

Melanie Tucker may have had a rough start, but along the way she’s learned to fight for her future. She’s escaped from hell and started a new life, yet every night she dreams of a biker whose touch she can’t forget. It all started out so innocently—just a series of letters to a lonely man in prison. Friendly. Harmless. Safe.

Now Painter Brooks is coming home… and Melanie’s about to learn that there’s no room for innocence in the Reapers MC.
