I didn't know her name… But I took her anyway.
She was supposed to belong to another man.
Now she’s mine.
Her big doe eyes and full, lush lips pleaded with me to take her.
I couldn't just walk away.
That monster made her his slave. Hurt and broken, all I wanted to do was save her.
I'll protect her.
I'll show her what love really is.
I'll remind every inch of her body that it can feel so good…
I don't care if HE wants her back.
She belongs to me.
And I'll fight to show her what she's truly worth.

This story has everything I look for in an entertaining read. There is drama, twists, angst and love. Fair warning, it is an insta-love so if that isn’t your thing, you may be turned off and I will not that there are some dark moments like abuse BUT, I will say, Leah spins quite a web here so do not miss out. Redd is a deeply twisted character but so charismatic and brooding. Even though you want to hate him. you can’t help but fall in love. I LOVE how he plays off of Bijou’s character. They are so different, yet compliment each other so well like dark & light. You cannot have one without the other, as contrasting as they are. This story is filled to the brim with hurt and pain but there is quite a bit of humor and passion as well. Overall, I really enjoyed what Leah brought to life in this book.

A taste

The man's lips touched the shell of my ear, breath hot like fire. "If I want you to speak, I will ask you a question. If I want to hear your fucking voice or your fucking opinion -shit- if I want to hear your goddamn pleas, I will tell you to talk and I will tell you to beg. Until then, just kneel right where you are and look pretty."
My heart hurt seeing her so distraught. All the rage I felt melted away as she wilted against the wall like a dying flower. Petal after petal fell away, leaving her wounded. It's my fault. Whatever pieces of hope she had clutched to her chest, pierced the ground on raindrop shaped tears. I shattered her.
