Wow. What a crazy story! Cade’s wife vanishes and after 2 years, he is still not the man he once was. She was the love of his life and he refuses to give that up, even with her disappearance. The author lays the ground work pretty early on about who is behind it all, but her writing is very compelling and keeps you pulled into the story! There are lies, repressed secrets, distorted love and a whole bunch of disturbing plot twists. I don’t want to give too much away but it had a Gone Girl/ Sometimes I Lie vibe and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Excerpts
"I missed having you next to me, hearing your sweet laughter. standing in the doorway watching you when I came home at night and you didn't know I was there, while you puttered around the kitchen or was bent over your craft table working on some project or other."
"I missed hearing you call out to me the way you do when I'm inside you. Missed feeling your weight on my chest when we slept." I had to stop to clear the lump from my throat.
Seeing her virgin blood on my cock that first time turned me into something I never thought I could ever be. A pussy whipped lunatic. I don’t know what it is about the right woman. But sure, as fuck there’s some truth to the myth.
Not only did I become addicted to her, everything about her. Her scent, her smile, her touch. But my possessiveness grew tenfold and, in my heart, and soul I saw her as mine. Utterly and completely owned.
Publisher synopsis
Two years ago my wife disappeared. No note, no lead-up. I headed off to work in the morning, leaving her cozy and warm in our bed and came back to nothing. The cops had one suspect, me. When that theory didn’t pan out they moved on to the next best thing for their caseload. She’d run away with her lover. I knew better though. I knew there was no way the woman who’d vowed to spend her life with me, who’d only just told me she couldn’t wait to have our first child, could ever just walk away.
For two years I never stopped looking, hoping. Then just as I told myself I had to move on, she returned with no memory of where she’d been or how she got there. Getting her back was just the beginning, now I was in a race against the clock to find out who, and why before the enemy struck again.
