Shameless (shamelessbookclub.com) is run by Angie Lynch. This page explains what information the site collects when you visit, what happens to it, and how to reach me with questions. The short version: I collect very little, I do not sell it, and I do not ask you to create an account.
What the site collects
When you browse Shameless, standard technical information is recorded, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, how long you stay, and the page that sent you here. I use Google Analytics, set up through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to see which pages get read and which do not. The reports I see are summaries of visitor activity. I do not see your name or contact details in them.
If you send a comment or a message through the site, I receive whatever you type, along with your name, email address, and IP address if the form asks for them. Akismet, a spam filter, checks those submissions to catch junk, which means the submission is sent to Akismet’s servers for review.
If you email me at info@shamelessbookclub.com, I get your email address and whatever you write, and I use it to reply.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Google Analytics uses them to tell one visit from another. WordPress may set a few for basic site function. The affiliate networks described below also set cookies when you click one of their links. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. The site will still work if you do, though some features may behave differently.
Affiliate links
Many of the product links on Shameless are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. I participate in affiliate programs through Amazon Associates, FlexOffers, BrandCycle, and Impact, along with other programs and networks. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
When you click an affiliate link, you leave Shameless and land on the retailer’s site. The retailer and the affiliate network may place cookies in your browser so they can credit the sale to me, and they collect information under their own privacy policies. I never see your purchase details, your payment information, or your account with the retailer. I only see that a sale happened, and what it earned.
Sharing buttons and outside links
Some pages have buttons for sharing a find on services like Pinterest, or for asking an AI assistant about it. Those buttons are links. Nothing is shared until you click one, and after you do, the service you land on handles your information under its own policy. The same goes for any other outside site this one links to.
How information is used
I use the information above to understand what visitors read, keep spam out, reply to messages, and keep the site running. I do not sell your personal information, and I do not rent it or trade it.
Who else handles your information
A few outside services touch the site’s data in order to run it: GoDaddy hosts the site, Google provides Analytics, Automattic provides Akismet, and the affiliate networks above handle link tracking and commissions. Each one operates under its own privacy policy. I may also share information if the law requires it.
How long information is kept
Analytics data is kept for the period set in my Google Analytics account. Comments and messages stay until I delete them or you ask me to remove yours. Emails sit in my inbox until I clear them out.
Your choices
You can block cookies in your browser, and you can install Google’s browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask what information I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. To make a request, email info@shamelessbookclub.com and I will respond as soon as I can.
Children
Shameless is written for adults and is not aimed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent me information, email me and I will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If the site starts doing something new with your information, I will update this page and change the date at the top.
