Mercy Chase is supposed to be off at college, drinking too much at frat parties and dancing the night away. Instead she finds herself reeling in the wake of a devastating loss, staring down the barrel of a foreclosure, and running out of options fast. It’s up to her and her alone to keep what’s left of her family together. And she’s willing to do anything. Whatever it takes.

Parker Callahan just needs one night of peace. Between high stakes business dealings and an overbearing family, it feels like the world is trying to tear him apart— like he’s being clawed at, stretched too thin. Like everyone’s trying to get a piece of him. So, when a sapphire-eyed angel in stiletto heels shows up at his door, he allows himself a rare indulgence. His one night of peace. Little does he know that for him, peace is now a distant dream.

Mercy and Parker have such a hot back and forth romance. Messer Stone does an amazing job with character development and paints vivid images of temptation and prolonged seduction. Mercy is relatable, funny and determined. Her growth in the story is entertaining and I loved her way of rising to the occasion when her back was up against the wall. Parker is hot and his delay in coming to terms with just how much he desires Mercy made him even hotter. Super impressed with this book and cannot wait to read more form the author!

A taste

My hands bury themselves in his hair, locking his face against mine. I have never been kissed like this. I have never kissed anyone like this. So messy, so raw. I ensnare his lower lip with my teeth, answering his resounding moan with my own.
My breath catches as curls his fingers under my knee where it’s crossed over my other leg, adjusting me so that my legs are spread and he can stand between them. His hands are balled up into fists, pressed into the desk on either side of me.
“Mercy,” he whispers, the warmth of his breath caressing my lips like a kiss.
I inhale him, drinking in the smell of him, that intoxicating musk mixed with spearmint and the faintest hint of his early afternoon coffee. I can’t get enough of this.
When I finally gave in, I imagined Mercy beneath me, her hair fanned out on my pillow, her sweet pink lips parting as she panted breaths, those sapphire eyes getting even bigger and rounder as I pushed deeper inside her. I came so hard I swear I almost blacked out, my hips thrusting up off the bed and into my hand.
