Recommendation
I completely loved this book, and cannot wait to tell Lauren Rowe that in person at #Shameless18! The chemistry between the main characters is instant, but they can’t act on it immediately, which allows the story to build delicious anticipation as it moves from the unfulfilled lust to the main event. There’s a cast of supporting characters that are wonderfully developed, funny, and loving. There are scenes in the book that brought me to tears with the sweetness of them, while others made me laugh out loud. Finally, the sex scenes were super hot, and included some phone sex, and some angry sex, too. There’s really something for everyone in this book!
Excerpts
At the first contact of my lips on Lydia's, she throws her arms around my neck and presses herself against my hard-on, and, just like that, every cell in my body explodes with the most intense desire I've ever experienced – a primal need to claim her, fuck her, lick her. Own her.
Out of nowhere, Colby mutters an expletive, picks me up, and places my ass on the ledge of the pool. As water drips from my naked flesh onto the cool concrete, he unceremoniously spreads my legs wide, slides several fingers inside me again – this time deep, deep inside me to a different place than my G-spot – and he begins passionately eating my clit while fingering me.
His blue eyes darkening with desire, Colby leaves his chair, crawls to me like a panther, straddles my hips, places his hand over mine on the dildo, and assumes control of the movements of my toy. He leans over me and whispers into my ear, letting his warm breath tickle my cheek. "I'm fucking you, Lydia. So hard, my balls are slapping against you. My face is buried in your tits. I'm sucking your nipple. My finger is up your ass."
Publisher synopsis
A standalone contemporary romance in the MORGAN BROTHERS SERIES from USA Today Bestselling Author Lauren Rowe. The story of firefighter Colby Morgan that proves heroes come in many forms…
The first time I laid eyes on Lydia Decker, I couldn’t speak. Or breathe. Or string two coherent thoughts together.
And I don’t mean any of that figuratively.
I’m not talking about a guy being floored by the sight of a gorgeous woman—although, of course, Lydia is gorgeous beyond words.
No, when I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker—my physical therapist—I was lying flat on my back in the ICU, high as a kite on painkillers, breathing on a ventilator, my bones as broken and splintered as my spirit.
When I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker, she was a ray of light in the dark. Hope for the hopeless. A salve for my singed and battered soul.
She said she’d been assigned to fix me. That she was there to bring me back to life. She said helping me was her calling.
And then she touched me. Physically, emotionally, spiritually. She healed me.
And I fell in love.
But what I didn’t know…what I couldn’t possibly know…was that Lydia Decker needed fixing far more than I ever did.
