Recommendation
Strider is probably my favorite of the Lords. I love his devil-may-care attitude, his hilarious come-backs and digs at the other characters. And he has totally met his match in Kaia because she is just as vain and competitive as him. She pokes at his demon and makes bets with him knowing he can’t stand to lose, yet lets him win so he’s not in pain. Their banter will have you laughing, but don’t worry, there is plenty of suspense and action packed into this book. The romance isn’t insta-love either, so we have a nice build-up throughout the story, even with plenty of sexy times. We also get to see the rest of the Lords and their women as Gena’s world building and overall story arc continues.
Publisher synopsis
Possessed by the demon of Defeat, Strider cannot lose a challenge without suffering unimaginable pain. For him, nothing stands in the way of victory. Until Kaia, an enchanting Harpy, tempts him to the razor's edge of surrender.
Known among her people as The Disappointment, Kaia must bring home the gold in the Harpy Games or die. Strider is a distraction she can't afford because he has an agenda of his own—steal first prize, an ancient godly artifact, before the winner can be named. But as the competition heats up, only one prize will matter—the love neither had thought possible.…
