  • Just One Year by Penelope Ward

Just One Year is a sweet and romantic story about a girl falling for the exchange student living in her parent’s house. I really enjoyed the slow-burn build up of Caleb and Teagan’s romance. They started out as enemies, then became friends, then the sexual tension was overwhelming until it exploded! As always, Penelope Ward gives us a twist, something I didn’t see coming, but it makes the story that more enjoyable. Real, lovable characters and a sweet love story make this book one you don’t want to miss.

  • Entangled Chaos by C.M. Radcliff

My head is still spinning from this book. WOAH! If you’ve never read a tale by C.M., take warning… they are not feel good romances. That being said, they are amazing! Kai and Dahlia share a twisted, horrendous past which leaves them both messed up and jaded in their adult years. They cross paths again but you just aren’t sure if it is for the good or the bad. I loved the vivid details of what went on at the farm. It really sets the tone for the book and makes you appreciate what they crawled their way out of. I loved their dynamic. Kai is so hot and the way he wants to protect Dhalia will steal your heart. This ends on a cliffhanger and it will make you want to scream but this story is too good to pass up for my dark lovers out there!

  • Jeremiah by Jayce Ellis

Change was a big theme with this story. Jeremiah is a semi closeted paramedic and Collin is a glorified temp. They both know that they need more in their lives but are not sure what that is or how to get there. I loved that there was no “big bad” that needed to be overcome, no stalker exes, no abusive parents, just two sexy men that fell in love and dug deep to step up for each other. The chemistry between these men is hot and it was easy to cheer for their happily ever after.

  • Ashes to Ashes by Lucinda Dark

This was a stunning conclusion to a fun, super hot trilogy. The relationship between Barbie, Torin and Maverick is super hot, but also tender and beautiful. Barbie’s sarcasm made me laugh out loud several times. The three heroes working on their plan for vengeance kept me on the edge of my seat, and I was in love with the way Lucinda Dark wrapped things up. Overall, the book was impossible to put down. The series is complete now, so if you have been waiting to read the whole thing, your time has come.

  • Enemies by Tijan

Angst-filled NA books are a favorite of mine, so Enemies was right up my ally! This is definitely an enemies-to-lovers story, but I never quite got why Stone and Dusty were enemies. But beyond that, their story was great. The back and forth, love/hate, angry sex then pushing away was everything I want in an angsty book. Dusty was a totally relatable college girl, wanting to be accepted and liked, but to blend in with the crowd. That hard to do when you’re linked with a professional football player. Stone was a good guy, cocky enough to be charming but not an asshole. Their chemistry was hot, especially when they tried to push each other away, but once they figured it out, it was a beautiful love story of two people who knew they were alway meant to be.

  • Draven by Tracie Delaney

I love, love, love Tracie Delaney’s hot as heck a-hole male characters. Draven did not disappoint, with his brash manners, filthy mouth, and abrasive attitude. And Louise is a super strong, hard as nails heroine, who can hold her own against him. Watching them spar as their relationship grew in spite of them, as they worked to solve the mystery together, made my bits tingle. And their sexy times, when they finally get down to business, are super hot. Read this one today!

  • Inside by Nicky James

Make no mistake. This is an intense love story. The main characters are Anson, a prison guard closeted for his safety and Bishop, a death row inmate. There are themes of racial injustice, wrongful convictions, and economic inequality. Against this backdrop, the men develop an intense connection. This amazed me because these are men on opposite sides of a cell door. There is no sex and limited contact, But Nicky James skillfully pulls you into their world and makes you root for them to be together.

  • Twisted Hearts by Cora Reilly

Twisted Hearts tells the story of Gemma and Savio with a slow burning romance that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Savio was a super asshole who I really wanted to hate, but couldn’t help but melt for; and watching Gemma progress from innocent school girl to passionate woman gave me all of the feelings. The story is set in the world of the Italian Mob, so there are some very dark events that happen, but for me that part of the story added to Savio’s complexity as a character. When I am feeling daring enough, I may just venture into more of the stories in this world, which is darker than my normal recommendations, but also intriguing and exciting!

  • Liar by Fiona Cole

Holy HOTNESS! Liar is off the charts sexy and filled with so many dirty little moments I lost count. Olivia and Kent find themselves working together after one ridiculously hot night a few years back and temptation becomes too much for both to handle. I loved both these characters. Fiona did an amazing job describing what was going through Kent’s head with the push and pull about what was right and what was wrong. He is so damn delicious and the whole package. Olivia is a spitfire and I really enjoyed her humor and the way that she owned who she was and what she wanted. These two together light up the pages. I would pay to watch them get it on!

  • Big Bad by Queenie Wise

Sometimes a girl just needs a good paranormal story! This series hits all the high points and features some of my favorite tropes: accidental turning, kidnapping, and May/December fated mates. Also, Peter comes of age and gets to turn the heat all the way up with his mate, Damon. The dramatic power struggles and undercover scheming had me on the edge of my seat during the climax of the book.

  • Miss Understanding by Aubrey Bondurant

This is a fun book that made me laugh! Kendall works for Liam who is not the nicest guy in the world, and after a while barriers get broken down and feelings develop. I am a fan of the whole “I am your boss, so I am going to be an alpha a**hole to keep myself distant from you but really I just want to be loved” thing and this book was all of that and more. You will hate Liam, then feel bad for him, then begin to love him and finally, you won’t stop thinking about him! Kendall puts up a good fight but, in the end, they both become more secure as individuals, which opens them up to feeling more secure with one another.

  • Impact by Haley Jenner

Impact hit me harder than most books. It is a story about true survival after a life changing event. Zoe’s life is turned upside down by a sexual assault. I loved her character which made reading about what happened to her even harder. You watch her crawl her way out of hell and try to rebuild any sense of normalcy but how do you feel safe again in a world that destroyed you? Enter Tripp. He is so swoon worthy and his patience with Zoe as she is trying to find the good in life again is enough to make you melt. Their relationship is built on compassion and hope and it is the kind of love story that will stay with you for years.

  • Then You Happened by K. Bromberg

What a fantastic story! I’m always down for a hot cowboy, and Jack is definitely that, but Tatum was the star of this story. She is the epitome of “pulling yourself up by the bootstraps”, a strong woman who is determined to make it on her own. I love that their romance was a slow burn, but once it ignited it was white hot! There are secrets and a lot of angst, but the angst isn’t over the top and fits in perfectly with the story. Bromberg gives us a well-written romance with an original plot, a few twists and a ton of heat! I loved every word.

  • Fall Again by Ann Lister

One of the tropes that I love but rarely see is After the happily ever after. This book revisits the first couple from the Rock Gods series, Dagger and Ryan. At this point, they are married and still having hot sex! But now they are also tackling the big questions” How much longer can Dagger maintain the rock lifestyle? Should they expand their family? This book was a great to revisit one of my favorite couples in the rock star trope. But the past doesn’t overshadow things so much that you can’t start reading from here.

  • With a Lover’s Courage by Brittany Cournoyer

This is the finale to the Badge and Bullets trilogy and you would think that things would be winding down for our heroes. After all the trials, tribulations and drama Bradley and Max are settling into a relationship. But the shadows from the first two stories are still reaching out to them threatening to destroy them both. Cournoyer does not let up on the suspense, intrigue and hot sex until the very end of this story.

  • Fashion Jungle by Kathy Ireland and Rachel Van Dyken

What a great book! It’s a little “Project Runway” and a little “Sopranos” mixed in with some mystery and romance. The fact that this book is based on real life events is freaking sad and so scary, but the fact that real life is sad and scary is part of what makes this book so good! This is a story of survival and friendship. It’s about love and loss and staying true to yourself. It’s about the decisions you make that shape the rest of your life. It’s about second chances. After reading this book, you’ll never look at the world of fashion and modeling the same way. And that’s probably a good thing!

  • Ella’s Masquerade by Lexi C. Foss

I am often stunned by the intricacies of the worlds that come out of the mind of Lexi C. Foss, and this introduction to the world of the Midnight Fae is no exception. This book introduces the world with a Cinderella-like story. Ella is a feisty heroine who is learning about her new abilities, while Tray is the super hot, strong willed man who is teaching her. Their chemistry is off the charts hotter than hot, and the taste of the other characters we see in this story is a tantalizing glimpse that makes me eager for the rest of the series to be released. Read this one now, and come into the world of the Midnight Fae!!!

  • Credence by Penelope Douglas

I have so many things to say about this book, and I don’t know where to start! First, it’s an original plot that moves quickly. You’d think a book that centers around four people snowed in for months would be boring, but this is the opposite. If you’re a fan of the taboo, this is the book for you. If you like extreme heat, this is the book for you. I’m going out on a limb here, but I’ll say that Credence contains one of the hottest scenes I’ve ever read, and I read a ton of smut so that’s saying something. I was hooked from start to finish. Pen Douglas has a way of making a reader fall in love with extremely broken/flawed characters, these four people are no exception.

  • I See You by Ker Dukey & D H Sidebottom

Danger! Danger, Will Robinson! I See You was probably one of the most twisted books I have had the pleasure of reading in quite some time. I am not a stranger to the sick & cleverly disturbing minds of Ker Dukey & D H Sidebottom. I read their books without even thinking twice. The characters they created in Devon, Noah and Nina will stay with me for a long time. Multiple trigger warnings throughout the story such as rape and violence. Nina’s attack is difficult to read but I promise it is all setting you up for an ending that will have your head spinning!
I am a big fan of dark and emotional reads. This was hands down one of those most disturbing, twisted stories I have ever read. I could not put it down. Listen to the Authors warning. It is a tale of abuse, survival & love. The characters are so well written, you feel every emotion. The story follows Nina and her struggle to rebuild a life after a horrific event and Devin, who is fighting hard for the good in himself to win. Their passion is powerful and hits you at your core. This book is beyond twisted and I loved every second of it!

  • Inappropriate by Vi Keeland

This is not your usual CEO/office romance, this book blew me away! From start to finish I was hooked. I loved these characters, their banter had me laughing, their flirting had me swooning and their heat had me sweating! I ADORED Grant and I fell more in love with him as I learned more about his story. Ireland is a strong, funny woman and I loved the way she purposely annoyed Grant. As usual, Vi Keeland gives us an original story full of emotion and plot twists that will rip your heart out. This is my favorite Vi Keeland book by far!

  • Worship by Ella James

This series is hot! It features Luke, a closeted megachurch preacher and Vance, a super talented artist, They discover they have explosive chemistry and even though they probably should stay away from each other they can’t. The series follows them over the course of several years of their relationship and it is beautifully angsty and emotional. And yes, the book does sneak up to the taboo line but the story is so worth it!

  • Wear It Like A Crown by Zarah Detand

I found this story out of the blue. And with all the royal drama we are seeing lately it hit the spot! A closeted Prince? And he falls in love with a fixer with a secret? Sign me up! There is just the right amount of angst and for just the right reasons! The story is a bit of a slow burn but the payoff is so worth it! I know it is only January but this one is an early contender for my “Best of” list.

  • Andorra Sector by Lexi C. Foss

Well, Lexi C. Foss has done it again. She has built an amazing new world with delicious characters, lots of suspense, a bit of mind-fuckery, and a whole lot of sexy times. Ander Cain can be a dumbass, which brings some dark moments, and because of that Kat’s journey evokes a whole progression of emotions, and I couldn’t help but forgive him in the end. Their chemistry is off the charts amazing, and the fact that it’s a shifter story gives the attraction animalistic qualities that take it to the next level of hotness. The supporting characters are wonderful, and I cannot wait until she gives us their stories as well! Read this one today, and you will not be sorry!!!

  • Love Her or Lose Her by Tessa Bailey

There aren’t a lot of books about married people out there, probably because part of the allure of romance novels is in the meeting and the “honeymoon phase” of relationships. So I went into this book not knowing what to expect, but I should have known that Tessa Bailey was going to knock it out of the park. This is a story about how everything falls apart when a couple stops communicating. It’s about finding the ways to make your partner feel loved. It’s real and raw. Dominic is a strong, broody, alpha protector with a strong libido and dirty mouth who thinks his sole job is to provide for his wife. Rosie loves her husband but wants more. The one thing NOT wrong in their marriage is the sexual chemistry. In true Tessa fashion, the heat in this book melts the pages. The possessive was Dominic fights for his wife will make you swoooooon. So, so good.

  • Bishop: A True Lover’s Story by AE Via

This was a surprisingly tender love story from an author that is known for writing rough and tumble police dramas. Bishop is an illiterate ex-con struggling to build a new life for himself. And Edison is an office manager trying to find a life of his own. Even though they should be opposites they discover that they actually have quite a bit in common. The story is a bit of a slow burn but seeing these gentle souls fall in love with each other is well worth the wait.

  • The Mysterious and Amazing Blue Billings by Lily Morton

I have been a fan of Lily Morton since her Risk Takers series. She tells stories about posh boys with posh boy problems very well. Blue Billings is a departure from this formula and it is a risk that has paid off! In addition to hot sex with hot, funny men, there are tons of intrigue and historical mysteries that have to be dealt with.

  • Strangers by Yolanda Olson

Yolanda Olson is one of my FAVORITE dark/horror erotica authors. Her stories are unique, usually filled with nightmare fueled scenery and diabolically wicked characters. I look forward to her depravity every time I pick up one of her books and Strangers is no exception to this. Fiona and Orson are neighbors in a sense and Orson finds himself completely enthralled with the twisted “little monster” who lives opposite him. This story turns psychotic killing into foreplay, and it is done in such a way that you find yourself looking past the sadistic tendencies and focusing on the heat rising between the two main characters. The ending had me blinking at the last page for a bit. A complete WTF moment for sure but that is why Yolanda keeps me coming back!

  • In the Darkness by Leann Ryans

First off, this is pure evil erotica. There is a story here, but it is cloaked in sexual carnage that includes torture, rape, abuse and disturbing obsession. Secondly, as far as dark reads go, Leann Ryans covers ALL aspects of a cruel, emotionally crippling, immoral story. Cara is sold at a young age to FOUR alphas who use her for whatever pleases them. The story is vivid and leaves very little to the imagination. Her push and pull with her own emotions become a focal point of the book and while it did leave me hanging a bit, I am eager to see what happens on the next part of the series.

  • Killer Temptation by Avery Flynn

Killer Temptation is a suspense story with a side of insta-lust between the sassy, fashion blogging heroine and her hot, ex-cop bodyguard. The chemistry between Tony and Sylvie is off the charts hot, but they keep getting sidetracked by the life threatening mystery that they are stuck in. The cast of super fun, supporting characters helps to draw you into the story even while they constantly keep you wondering who you can really trust.

  • Cold Queen by K. Webster

A sexy, roller coaster ride in a “frozen” inspired fairy-tale where Ryke and Elzira are complete opposites who cannot deny the pull between them. K. Webster is one of my go-to dark authors. She pushes all the boundaries and tip toes over all the lines and that is why I never hesitate to read her books. I loved her spin on this story. Elzira is the ice queen and Ryke is the fire king. What brings them together should make them hate each other but the attraction proves too strong even with their powers. I don’t want to go into too much detail because it really needs to be experienced just know you are in for some sexy buildup and twisted moments.
