  • Caged by Clarissa Wild

Clarissa is one of my favorites when it comes to dark romance and Caged did not disappoint. The story is not only filled with raw, aggressive passion, but also with the type of emotion that leaves you with the best kind of book hangover. I loved the story of Ella & Cage. It was so pure and natural even though their situation was anything but. Ella lost herself a long time ago while Cage knows only the four walls he has been kept in. Their stories collide and it is just beautiful. Clarissa delivers a disturbingly, powerful plot and a brutally twisted love story all in one.

  • Too Beautiful to Break by Tessa Bailey

Ahh, I’ve been waiting so long for Belmont and Sage and we get all the swoony goodness! Tessa delivers all the romance and still hits the hotness button. ~ Nelle [September 2017]
I feel like I waited a lifetime for Belmont and Sage! I was already in love with them, both individually and as a couple, and I was thrilled with their story. They were made for each other. Belmont’s intensity oozed off the pages. As usual, Tessa gave us the sweet along with the sexy. It was great to catch up with the other Clarkson’s and see the completion of their family journey. Loved it!

  • Alphas of Danger by Shayla Black, Lexi Blake, Mari Carr, Kris Cook, Anissa Garcia, Kym Grosso, Jenna Jacob, Kennedy Layne, Isabella LaPearl, Carrie Ann Ryan

I just love when an anthology hits the spot with their stories. In each of these stories, you get such hot, alpha males and strong women (or a man) who can hold their own with them. But once they make it to the bedroom, it was scorching chemistry, dirty talking, and a little bit of one-handed reading. And don’t forget about the suspense and danger the authors threw in to spice things up between the main characters. Another plus side to this group of authors is they were able to still immerse me in their worlds and I wasn’t lost if I hadn’t read anything else in the series. It just makes me want to read their other books even more!

  • Dirtiest Little Secret by Skye Jordan

A good girl / bad boy story with a twist!! Skye Jordan delivers a killer story with tons of heat in this one from the Quick and Dirty collection. ~ Nelle [September 2017]

  • Dirty Little Secret by Kendall Ryan

I love a good love triangle, especially when hot brothers are involved! Both hot, rich, one a good guy, one a bad boy….which one will the sweet and innocent librarian choose?!?! I really enjoyed watching Emma decide! This book is a scorcher! [September 2017]

  • Drawn to Him: A Romance Collection by Willow Winters, M. Never, L.J. Shen, K. Webster, Jade West, Isabella Starling, A. Zavarelli and K.L. Kreig

I knew I had to read this anthology the second I saw the names of so many of my favorite authors…M. Never, Jade West, Isabella Starling, Willow Winters, to name a few. If you are a fan of the alpha male, this collection needs to be added to the top of your reading list. I enjoyed how each one read as a standalone short story with interesting characters and surprising satisfying outcomes. They were meant as novellas, but the fact that each writer delivers a strong, solid story line in such a pointed delivery speaks volumes of their talent. My only negative is that I wish each one was longer. It’s like the adult version of bedtime stories except with down and dirty sex and a different kind of happy ending *wink wink*!

  • Born, Darkly (Darkly, Madly Duet Book 1) by Trisha Wolfe

What a thrilling take on the classic “cat & mouse” chase! I kept second guessing through out the story who was chasing who. I LOVE suspense mixed with my smut and man o’ man does Trisha deliver on every level! London and Grayson both have very dark, traumatic pasts. Their stories flow seamlessly, weaving together twisted layer after twisted layer. I enjoy how Trisha makes you sympathize with even the most sinister of characters. The scenes are vivid, both sexual and non sexual. Details get gruesome at points, so for anyone who doesn’t enjoy a “darker” shade of erotica, this one is not for you. I caught myself holding my breath while reading certain chapters and the complexity of the story kept me on edge until the very end. Seriously intense doesn’t even begin to describe it. It is like Silence of the Lambs and Bonnie & Clyde had a baby! If twisted & dark is your thing, this is a must read!

  • Dear Bridget, I Want You by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward

Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward may be the best writing duo EVER! They come together so seamlessly to create these sweet, romantic, sexy stories. You’ll immediately fall in love with the charming Dr. Simon, and you’ll cheer for him in his endeavor to win over Nurse Bridget. This book is sweet, sexy, romantic and chock-full-o sexual tension and hilarious banter. [Sept 2017]

  • King of Code by C.D. Reiss

Nerd alert!! I freaking loved every word of this book. I loved Taylor’s nerdy arrogance. I loved Harper’s smart-ass but innocent personality. I loved the people of Barrington. I loved every word. King of Code is like no other book out there. It’s a quick moving, sexy original plot. I can’t wait to see what comes next! [September 2017]

  • Blood Guard: A Mission Novel by Megan Erickson

I’m always up for a new vampire world, and Megan did not disappoint. We get an introduction into the world around the city of Mission, but also how the vampires survive, different species of vampires (yes, there are very creepy ones,) and how much this clan of vampires believes in duty. Tendra was a strong heroine, seeing as her world is turned upside down after meeting Athan, her vampire bodyguard. I loved Athan, he was both strong and sweet with Tendra, but he was so conflicted about having feelings for her. And Tendra, for being told her human life is basically gone, doesn’t break down, act out, or do stupid things to get caught. I was impressed with her strength and attitude, both with Athan and also in facing down the bad guys. Megan really brings the heat once Tendra and Athan give into their feelings.

  • The Cinderella Fantasy by Sara Jane Stone

Jarred and Lucy’s story was so cute and clever. A must read for any romance loving Disney fan. The princess imagery was just perfect and didn’t overwhelm the story. ~ Nelle [September 2017]

  • Forget Me Not by Willow Winters

If you are a fan of Willow Winters then you know she packs a punch with her books. Forget me not was a powerful, gritty love story. The author takes you on a painfully detailed journey, depicting evocative imagery and an emotionally charged story line. Robin is a survivor, but she has never really moved on from her traumatic past. It is hard to describe her struggles through out this book without giving away any of the twisted, brilliant plot. This book had me on edge until the end and those are my favorite kinds of stories! I had no idea which way was up, whose intentions were good and pure or how I wanted it to all play out. The way Willow writes gets you invested in the characters and makes you feel things on levels you did not even know existed. What a fantastically unique play on a dark love story.

  • Misadventures of a City Girl by Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss

I always wonder how two authors can co-write a book. How they can seamlessly blend together to for one voice. Meredith Wild and Chelle Bliss nailed it. This book is hot. There are no other words to describe it. It’s an easy read with a ton of smoking’ sex scenes. It’s sweet and quirky and romantic. The perfect book when you’re in the mood for something light and sexy. [September 2017]

  • Dirty Filthy Rich Love (Dirty Duet) by Laurelin Paige

Dirty Duet is definitely one of my favorites of 2017. Donovan Kincaid is a force of nature. He wants what he wants and does not apologize for the way he goes about getting what he wants. I couldn’t decide whether I loved him or hated him, and I wanted to reach into my kindle and strangle him a time or two. This book is intense, it’s dirty, it’s filthy in the best way. You’ll love it!

  • Absinthe by Winter Renshaw

Man, I want to be Halston when I grow up!! Talk about a fierce, bad ass female character. She does no harm, but takes no shit. I loved her. Her growth throughout the story was exponential and watching her go after what she wanted while remaining self aware and true to herself is what I enjoyed most about this book. Well, that and Ford. *Sigh* He was all sorts of Alpha and his struggle with keeping his personal needs separate from his professional life made for a very sexually charged story. I loved the taboo nature of their relationship. Their chemistry was undeniable and OH so hot! The thrill of the forbidden romance kept my heart racing the whole way through. I could not stop reading!

  • Otter’s Toy Box by Yolanda Olson and Elizabeth Cash

There is dark and then there is Yolanda & Elizabeth dark! I did not know what to expect with Otter’s Toy Box but I enjoyed the twisting path into the unknown. Getting into the main characters head was actually frightening and watching the story play out between his point of view and “ITs” point of view was an interesting way to spin the events taking place. The story reads as more of a horror short story, so if you love mystery, murder and haunting imagery, this book is for you!

  • Play On by Samantha Young

I can always count on Samantha Young to bring out all of my emotions in a slow burn love story. Aidan and Nora (O’Brien, no relation)’s story will put you through the emotional ringer but put you all together at the end. ~ Nelle [September 2017]

  • Taken By the Russian by Alexa Riley and Jessa Kane

I can’t EVEN with how HOT this book was. Alexa Riley and Jessa Kane can make you feel squirmy in the very best way. Sasha, takes the word Alpha to a whole new level with his long time love, Anya. You do not want to miss this one! ~ Theresa [August 2017]

  • The Hotter You Burn by Gena Showalter

I don’t know how Gena does it, but she reforms a known man-whore with a sweet heroine who’s down on her luck. I loved Beck and Harlow’s story, their fighting, and friendship that leads into a relationship was both funny and heartbreaking at times. But they definitely had some uphill battles. Luckily, there is a great cast of supporting characters from the previous stories to help them out, bring comic relief, and insight to Beck and Harlow’s pasts. There was some suspense added towards the end that I felt added perfectly to the story, and I can’t wait to read the next book in this trilogy about 3 bad boys who move to a small town, overcome their demons to find their HEA. Then, the series starts another trilogy based in the same town with characters we’ve briefly met.

  • The Opposite of You by Rachel Higginson

Oh, how I love a good enemies-to-lovers romance, and this one has it all. Snark, awesome side characters, character depth, and angst, plus a great slow-burn romance. I loved Vera and Killian’s cooking challenges, and the best friend had some great one-liners. I highlighted whole passages that had me cracking up because I couldn’t do just one line. It takes almost the whole book before they give in to their carnal feelings, but you’re so caught up in the story you don’t realize you’re at 75% and they haven’t had sex yet. But, don’t worry, once they confess their love, it is ON! Rawr.

  • Three is a War by Pam Godwin

This series almost killed me! I found myself counting down the days until the next book was released. I do not want to say too much if you have yet to begin it but I am pleased with how it all turned out! What I loved most about The Tangled Lies series was all the emotions it induced in me. I was over the top happy at times. I laughed. I got upset. I MAY HAVE cried. It really gave me all the feels. The conclusion of the story wasn’t rushed and you felt the sentiment in all of these characters. I fell in love with both Trace and Cole and I felt Danni’s struggle with her impending decision with each turn of the page. Pam gives you a love triangle like none you’ve ever read before and it is raw and emotional til the very end!

  • The Time In Between by Kristen Ashley

Another winner from KA! This second-chance romance has everything I enjoy in a book….Great characters, humor, hotness and a sweet, but sad back-story. I love the quirky, unconventional family dynamic and the great cast of secondary characters. Coert and Cady’s story is long, but not drawn out. In typical Kristen Ashley fashion, once this alpha man found his love, he was not letting anything get in his way. Their reconciliation was real…it wasn’t easy, but it was sexy and beautiful. [August 2017]

  • Disorderly Conduct by Tessa Bailey

A! Brand! New! Tessa! Bailey! Series! This is what I live for! Tessa welcomed us into the hot new world of The Academy with Charlie and Ever’s story. This quick sexy tale will draw you in and wrap you up! Also, be on the lookout for the best grovel of ALL TIME! I loved it! ~ Nelle [August 2017]

  • Muscle Memory by Stylo Fantôme

I was caught off guard, in a good way, with this book. It was unlike anything I’ve read before and I found myself enthralled until the very end. Stylo has always been a great story teller. Her words pull you in and wrap themselves around your heart. Muscle Memory is filled with emotion, angst, and crippling love. The characters are well developed and the plot is consistently intriguing. I loved the back-and-forth between past and present. It really helped you get invested in Jayson and Delaney. You can feel their passion for each other radiating off of the pages. This book is truly a roller coaster ride with tons of highs and lows but you will get off wanting to jump right back on.

  • Cyanide by Ella Fields

I really adored Cyanide by Ella Fields! It was a sexy, fun read that had a little bit of everything. Vera is your typical rich girl who has been spoiled in life with everything but love. Jared is hardworking, rugged and knows how to handle himself. He is aggressive in his pursuit for Vera and you can’t help but get caught up in their undeniable chemistry. Jared is hot and a total Alpha. He knows what he wants and is relentless. I love how Ella describes how torn Vera is throughout the story. You really understand her struggles to give in and let herself be loved. Slight cliffhanger at the end but nothing earth shattering. Perfect weekend read to get lost in!

  • Master of My Body by Marissa Honeycutt

Man, this book is twisted! Marissa Honeycutt always packs a taboo punch in her stories and this one is no different. The Life of Anna is one of my favorite dark series of all time and the Finding Sabrina series looks to be on the same level. This book is filled with disturbing imagery, so listen to her warnings but, if you can see past that, she creates an imaginative and fascinating world filled with layers of complex characters. I cannot wait to see where Sabrina’s story goes.

  • Big Shot by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde

I absolutely LOVE the writing combo of Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde. They never fail to bring the sweet and the heat and merge them into a great romance. In Big Shot we get the forbidden-younger-sister-of-the-best-friend AND the forbidden-workplace-rival tropes mixed together to create this fun, sexy and romantic love story. Add it to your TBR!

  • Mercy by Debra Anastasia

If you like a little sweet stalking with your romance, then you’ll love this story. It’s not dark, but there is some childhood trauma that our hero has to overcome. Luckily, Becca is a strong heroine who’s up for the challenge. Debra gives us sweet moments as Becca and Nix come together, some laughter with the side characters, and some dark moments of suspense. The perfect mix, I think.
Plus, who wouldn’t love a story where the author puts herself and 2 of her author friends in the plot as hookers?

  • The Beauty of Us by Kristen Proby

Trevor shows us how sexy a geek can be. I’m a sucker for a hero in glasses and Trevor knows how to treat Riley right. Long distance love can be so challenging, but Kristen Proby weaves Riley and Trevor’s story beautifully. And I can’t wait for the next installment in the Fusion Series. ~ Nelle [August 2017]

  • Bait by Jade West

Jade West wraps dirty, taboo, and emotional all in a pretty pink bow and hand-delivers it to you in Bait. Abigail and Phoenix are incredibly hot together. Their characters are dynamic and consistently growing through out the story and it is quiet a wild ride watching their “relationship” develop. If you have read Jade before, you know to expect dirty and trust me when I say, you get diiiirty! It is fast paced, sexy, unconventional and raw. A “violent” love story, if you will. If you’re into dark erotica and filthy sex, get to #1clicking.
