  • Code of Silence by Shantel Tessier

Code of Silence has many interesting pieces to it and Shantel Tessier does a fantastic job tying them all together. While this is a standalone, it seems to act as the prequel to her Dark Kings and trust me when I say, this introduction will have you BEGGING for the Kings. Luca & Haven have an interesting start considering he basically buys her but don’t think for one second she is some damsel in distress. She is as feisty as they come and makes him work for every inch she lets him have. The sexual tension is explosive. Shantel does an amazing job setting the tone for the secondary characters development in future books and I have a feeling I am not going to be able to get enough of the Kings!

  • Vanishing Act by H. D’Agostino

This story is definitely heavy on the suspense and thriller genre and light on the romance. Brooke/Kellie is on the run with her daughter from her abusive husband. She has been through so much and is constantly on the move, never able to relax or let her guard down. It was so upsetting at times to read her overwhelming sense of fear for her life and her daughters life. When Blake entered the picture, he offered her a glimpse of hope. He becomes such a positive fixture in both her and Ava’s life and you could almost imagine Brooke allowing herself to be loved again. Book one of this duet ends on a cliffhanger that is pretty intense but doesn’t leave a bad taste in your mouth.

  • The Anti-Boyfriend by Penelope Ward

I love a good friends-to-lovers romance, especially one when it takes a while for things to heat up. The Anti-Boyfriend is exactly that! Deacon and Carys (like Paris) start out as neighbors and friends, but their relationship grows as he falls in love with Carys and her baby. They both have issues they need to get over, but when they finally take a chance, it’s awesome. This romance is sweet with very little angst and a baby you’ll instantly adore. Fans of the slow-burn build-up will absolutely love The Anti-Boyfriend!

  • Unleashing Sin by A.M. Wilson

A dark, slow-burn is definitely the perfect description of this book. Sin & Shelby’s story is extremely difficult at times. Triggers such as sex-trafficking, rape, abuse, drugs and more play a heavy role in their journey. Sin is a broken, mess of a man. His vice’s out weigh his virtues for the most part until Shelby enters the picture. Her life has been nothing short of a tragic tale and the horrific trials she has been through would be enough to break even the strongest of people. Their connection is only one that can be created by loss and suffering. Out of that darkness there is a beautiful bond that forms between them. Even broken people deserve happiness and love and though the path there may be a slow and steady one, the pay off makes it all worth it.

  • Entrapped by Tracie Delaney

Every time I read a book by Tracie Delaney, I like it better than the last one! Garen is one of her most interesting heroes to date. I went from wanting to punch him in the nuts, to being curious about him, to wanting to keep him for myself. And I love Catriona’s wit, strength, and love for her family. Watching the two of them progress from enemies to lovers was an engrossing story that I couldn’t put down. You can read this one as a standalone, or you can read the ROGUES series in order to meet the other characters. They are all a lot of fun!!!

  • Slash by Laurelin Paige

Sometimes relationships in novellas are hard for me to believe because things with the characters always feel rushed. This was not the case with Slash. Camilla and Hendrix have a past, brief as it was, and their relationship was told by flashbacks of their one night together. Perfect. Their chemistry was there, his wanting her very obvious, while she needed a push. This novella is angsty and real and will definitely hit you in the feels.

  • Shameless by Sybil Bartel

When an author takes the time to write the main characters first sexual experience together over a span of several chapters, you know this book is as hot as they come! I need a Shade in my life. HOT DAMN! I honestly could not get enough of the banter between him and Summer. It was laced with lust, savage sexual innuendos and so much need you were basically begging Sybil to unleash these two on one another. I loved Summer’s sass and how vulnerable she let herself get with Shade. She was no stranger to a wild lifestyle -“I liked to fall down the rabbit hole. I liked to be in so deep, I couldn’t see a way out, because that was when I felt alive. That was the taste of danger I craved” – and Shade consumed her in every way possible. The two of them were perfect together. Souls that went through hell to find one another and their place in the world. I could’ve read their story for DAYS. I want more. And Shade… if you’re out there and reading this… CALL ME! 😉

  • Only One Night by Dani Rene

Elisabet and Rome’s story is a fast paced, chemistry driven one that is definitely entertaining and hot. She is wanting to start over and build herself a fresh new world but life has other plans for her when she finds herself at Rome’s door. What starts as a planned “one night stand” quickly turns into more for Rome but obstacles and past life issues can’t help but find their way into the mix. I liked the flow of this story tho I wished the characters had a little more depth at times. I will say, Rome’s adoration for Elisabet is what kept me coming back for more . He worshiped her and her body and it is unbelievably sexy – “Her flavor is like a drug, and I’ll happily take a hit every hour of every day for the rest of my life.” All in all this is an entertaining, easy read that provides a few hours of steam and heat,

  • The Destruction of Sevyn by Ember Michaels

This book was BRUTAL. And I don’t mean just messed up and twisted. I mean it is incredibly hard to read at times and goes way past the point of even the darkest of dark stories. It is a revenge tale and one that is heavy on torture, death, rape and assault. Luther is a sadistic mastermind who kidnaps Sevyn and her friends picking them off one by one as Sevyn watches. I don’t want to get into the why’s and how’s but as you turn these pages, the plot just gets more and more complicated and evil. This book is not for everyone. It is for my torture porn enthusiasts and that is as blunt as I can get about it. Ember Michaels shocked me and that is really hard to do. I cannot wait for the second book to see how it all ends.

  • Restraint by Adriana Locke

Blaire and Holt’s story is fun, sweet and full of sexy little moments. He has a hard outer shell that works well for being a CEO of a huge, successful company but it isn’t until Blaire catapults into his life during a vacation in Savannah that you see the sweeter side of him. I got lost in him and his passion. He is everything that makes you fall in love with a character. Blaire has her own shortcomings, never wanting to let her walls down but watching their connection spark her happiness was awesome.Their chemistry is flawless and the back and forth between them makes for a real enjoyable read.

  • Taking Her Down by Jordan Marie

Jordan Marie gives us Chains and Kayden’s forbidden love story full of lust, hardship, grit and healing. A weird mix for an MC book, right? These elements work perfectly though in this story. I loved seeing Chains try to make every attempt to move past the hard life he has built for himself after the military. Everyone deserves to find happiness and though some struggle more than others to get there, it doesn’t mean they don’t want it just as bad. I really adored Kayden for all of her “take no shit” tendencies. She is the perfect match for Chains, even if her Dad is the obstacle standing between them. The chemistry between these two is truly magical and so incredibly explosive. I’m excited for more Savage Brothers Second Generation.

  • The Devil’s Dust Series by M.N. Forgy

This was such a great MC series! I was so happy to see they were packaged in a set because they really should be read back to back. It is hard to even describe which story is my favorite because each one has its own unique twist and amazing characters. They are packed full of suspense, the hottest sex (plus makeup sex) and some incredibly emotional moments. M.N. Forgy always gives us more than we deserve and this set left no stone unturned.

  • Cruel Water by Dee Palmer

I am still slow blinking at the ending of this book…. what in the hell did I just read? I was NOT prepared for THAT! Dee Palmer’s dark take on the Little Mermaid was captivating. There is something really down and dirty about it. The way he watches her. The way her craves her. I was really so intrigued with how it was all going to play out and I was in no way disappointed. Shocked, yes! Disappointed.. no.

  • In the Unlikely Event by LJ Shen

I’ve recently discovered a love of anything written by LJ Shen, and I’ve been gobbling them up! This one is a bit different than her others, much lighter and a bit wacky. It’s a second-chance rom-com with a little angst thrown in for good measure. I loved the premise – “if we ever meet again then we’ll get married, even if we’re already married to other people…let fate decide.” Sometimes fate has other plans. Mal and Rory’s love story is messy and sometimes sad, their path back to one another filled with deceit and lies. But in the end, fate always wins. I really enjoyed their story, especially the “notes from” sections, even though a few were a bit weird. It’s romantic and funny, the perfect summer read.

  • Nightfall by Penelope Douglas

Nightfall is the finale in the Devil’s Night series and I feel like I’ve been waiting FOREVER for this book. For me, Will was always the light part of this very dark series. He’s the jokester, not as serious or intense as the other three Horsemen, and I was ready for him to find his girl. Will and Emmy’s second-chance love story is filled with darkness and angst. I really enjoyed the flashbacks of them in high school and loved how relentless Will was in his pursuit. That being said, their reintroduction to each other’s lives was BRUTAL, and I mean that literally. This book is beyond violent, some of it fit in with the story and some was unnecessary. It’s also really erotic, but just like with the violence, some fit in with the story and some was for unnecessary shock factor. As this was the final book in the series, there were a ton of loose ends to tie up and the story ended as it should. But damn that Penelope Douglas, she wrote an epilogue that left me totally wanting more! I’m thinking the next generation of Horsemen will be epic!

  • Cruel Idols by Sorcha Black

This book was AMAZINGLY hot and uniquely twisted. Sadie finds herself in a very unusual contract with Vandal and before she even realizes it, she is knee deep in some sort of sadistic, kinky writing research project with him and Zero. I know it sounds weird, but it is SO good! She is torn between her obsession with Vandal and wanting him all over her all the time, and hating his derogatory, assholeness that he unleashes on her. There is a lot of push and pull in this story -“You hate me, and yet you still want me to fuck you.” Even though Sadie agrees to be part of this bizarre writing “project”, some of the “scenes” are insanely intense and not for those who may be triggered by abusive scenarios. Sorcha Black really pushes you over the edge with this book.

  • Dangerous Stranger by Piper Stone

Rafael and Savannah’s story is one of many layers. Rafael is powerful, intense, dark but insanely passionate. Savannah nourished that soulful side of him and makes him feel things he has never really let himself feel before. Mafia life has really drained him of emotion and being vulnerable but watching his demeanor shift when he has Savannah in his arms was a beautiful thing. I did love how possessive he was and how he could not contain himself around her. While there are BDSM aspects like spanking and rough play, it was not too intense and worked into the story perfectly.

  • Precious Gems by Sierra Hill

This book was a total adrenaline rush. As someone who loves a good suspenseful thriller, Precious Gems hooked me from the beginning. Gemma and Faron light these pages on fire with their chemistry and desire for one another. How can such a powerfully wicked man give her everything she yearns for and more? Their connection is palpable and the light BDSM tone was highly enjoyable. Mixed in with all the hot moments is enough action to keep your head spinning. If you are in the mood for a little bit of everything, this is the one for you.

  • The Faceless by K.B. Everly

This book was like watching a classic horror slow burn that has you on the edge of your seat the entire time, waiting for that jump scare. While I don’t classify this book as horror, I loved the deliciously dark undertones that make up this fantasy world. It delivers some twisted moments in between some intense sexual chemistry between The Crows and Noir. The character elements make the story so intriguing like Lynx, Helios and Seron always being in masks and I really loved Noir and her dynamic with Dev and Paul. K.B. Everly really delivered the perfect little fantasy escape from the everyday life.

  • Devanté by Danielle James

Dear Lord, Devante’. He is everything that is swoon-worthy in this world. I adored his character. He is sweet and tender yet passion filled and intense. His emotional connection to Blake lasts decades. It is filled with mistakes, heartbreak, angst and regret. It makes their journey to the end even sweeter. Danielle James does an amazing job making their chemistry super hot while walking the line of being best friends. We all have had that one close friend that you push the boundaries with. Risking it all for that person. For that feeling. This story bring you back there. Prepare for the butterflies.

  • Rebel Bitten by Lexi C. Foss

This is the fourth book in this series and this world just keeps getting better and better. Ryder is an asshole that you will love to hate, and Willow’s strength makes her a wonderful heroine. The intrigue of the world grows with each book, and I am so excited to see what happens next. There were some jaw dropping moments in this one, and the twists and turns kept me turning pages until the wee hours of the morning!!! Start this series today, and you will not regret it!!!

  • When He Comes Back by Anniina Sjöblom

I love Pride & Prejudice and this short adaptation of it was so well done. I enjoyed the twist of having it during WWII while keeping the romance we’ve all come to love between Darcy and Elizabeth a focal point. The banter is there which was always a huge reason I adored the original story. The ending was so incredibly sweet. I only wish this was longer!

  • This Love Hurts by W. Winters

I could not wait for this book to come out as Willow is one of my favorite authors and I usually devour her stories in one sitting. The tale of Cody, Delilah, and Marcus promises to be a twisted one. The foundation was laid in this book for a very compelling series. A dangerous love triangle that puts Delilah in a very intense spot. I am dying to know more of the history between Cody & Marcus and why they have agreed to stay away from her. Poor Delilah feels torn between two deliciously sexy men but what if it comes down to picking the lesser of the two evils? This book definitely has more of a suspense/mystery tone than romance but the heat is still worked in very nicely. I am hooked!

  • A Distraction of Lies by Charlotte E. Hart

Hannah’s transformation in this story is something magical. What is the saying? “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” After her life is turned upside down, she falls down the kink rabbit hole thanks to a gentle push from Grayson. Her experiences are sexy and intricately detailed and the pull between her and Grayson is undeniable. There is so much mystery surrounding him and why he is keeping Hannah at a distance even though he cannot stop thinking about her. I cannot wait to learn more about why in the second book. I have been thinking about this story since I finished reading it. It is exciting, unpredictable, dirty and a perfect escape from reality.

  • Poison by Jade West

There are several reasons I read any Jade West book:
    1) The filthiness — and I mean the dirty, nasty, you pretend you don’t want it but you love it FILTH
    2) The character dynamics — always compelling, engaging and completely intriguing
    3) The love of kink — it is always handled with care and does justice to the lifestyle itself

Anna and Lucas have a deeply connected past and have both struggled with themselves and each other. Their story is fast paced, addicting and full of delicious, dirty chemistry. The sex between this duo is hot. It is controlling and kinky, leaving very little to the imagination. You will devour every bit of it!

  • Dangerously by M. Never

The relationship between Declan and Fallon started out pretty crazy, but it became something beautiful and unexpected. Fallon is so badass and watching Declan slowly break down the emotional barrier she has around her heart was everything! I love it when a female lead is strong and holds her own but shes only human and didn’t stand a chance against that sexy Irish accent. There is this really amazing chemistry between them and M. Never always does such an perfect job mixing in action and suspense with some really sexy moments.

  • Masquerade by Derek Masters

Derek Masters is not a “new to me” author so when I pick up his books, I know what I am in for. The world he created in Masquerade is an erotic roller coaster that lets your imagination run wild with vivid imagery and the dirtiest of words. There is violence, action, chemistry, dominance. Brandon saves Chloe’s life by making her his personal “toy” and while it sounds horrible in theory, it gives them both what they truly desire – “I loved every second of what he’s just given me, but I hate that it’s the best sex I’ve ever had in my life.” The story plays out seamlessly, from ugly to beautiful. When he offered her a choice, I caught myself holding my breath. I love a book that can get you all hot and bothered while making the characters so intriguing that you find yourself thoroughly invested in their outcomes. Well done, Derek!

  • Cyclone of Chaos by E.C. Land

Heartache and emotional turmoil describes the tone of Scorch and Emery’s story perfectly. Scorch, the MC president, believes he has lost the love of his life and only after a decade passes does he come face to face with a ghost. He had to crawl through the ruins and rubble of what he was left with and stacked walls up along the way, protecting himself at all costs. His character is strong willed and unyielding and mixed with his passion, he is unstoppable all around. Emery is strong and feisty herself, and the two of them together create a power couple whose chemistry sets fire to the pages of this book. Add in tons of suspense, action, the cartel and some insane characters and you wont be able to put this book down!

  • Remember Me by Avril Ashton

This book blasted me right out of the book funk I have been in! It is a grimy gang drama with all the elements done right! There is amnesia, underhanded deals, double crosses, lies, and revenge. The chemistry between the main characters is hot and intense. Even the subplot was amazing, Bishop suffers from a mental illness. Instead of using the tired “love cures all” narrative, you see him have the nerve to step back, seek professional help, and do the work to improve his health. This book has definitely earned a place on my permanent shelf.

  • Letters in the Dark by Kit Rose

This had to be one of the most unique dark story-lines I have read in a while. The flashbacks are deeply disturbing- DEEPLY, DEEPLY disturbing- and the characters are broken and flawed. Monster and Cassandra are so messed up it simply breaks your heart. Even though Monster kidnapped her, you sympathize with his story and how he came to be what he is. Cassandra shut the world out after growing up in the system, wanting to forget the atrocities of the world she knew but, seeing her open up to him even with being held captive was such a beautiful thing. This story is the definition of survival and fortitude and will leave you an emotional wreck.
